    Me neither.

My Toyota truck's brakes work just fine. In fact, they tend to grab even faster in the morning after sitting all night getting cold.

    Hmm.
3.2 Wildtraks have a looong waiting list. Even orange ones. Some unscrupulous dealers are even charging a premium. Unbelievable

Secondary market 3.2 Wildtraks are verrry thin on the ground.

I'm happy to be proven wrong, but at the moment I don't think the resale database could support your argument. Unless you know a mate, who knows a guy, who was only offered 5/8ths --- etc etc In that case, can I buy it???

Betty stick with your little Honda City mate, as you would not want your Mrs Betty driving it.

A Ranger driver Kvnt ran me of the road in a near head on last week.
This guy is from a village near my factory so when I find him I will write with a screw driver Kwai on the driver door

If we were truly logical, there would only be the honda jazz and the toyota hilux. All else is superfluous.

In terms of 'holding their value', I was comparing them to the Toyota Hilux.

I've got a buddy who bought one of those 3.2 Wildtracks and he went into the deal knowing beforehand it wouldn't keep value as long as the Hilux but he needed a larger truck so that was his motivation.

For myself, I've got to get to one of those 'Grey Market' Dealers and inquire re the Toyota Tundra. Still have my sights on one of those.

I'm happy to be proven wrong too re the Ford resale price.

Why not get a nice car and use a trailer to cart your bikes around? Then you can have a nice car to get around in that handles and stops for the 90% of the time your not carting bikes around. I used to use my 4x4 Hilux to cart around my dirt bike but they are so high it is hard to get them on and off. Or a van? No snooping cops or thieves while you are parked.

I suggest a Subaru XV with a trailer. Great car to drive but has good ground clearance and AWD to get you to the trail heads or wherever.

Oh, I wouldn't buy a Ford. Their reliability is seriously questionable, their service is crap, their resale value is low and they don't look great. Ford just went with the "lets just build the biggest truck and everyone will go ooh" design philosophy.

Only the Mazda Bt50 is uglier, I can't fathom how someone looks at one of those and thinks it looks good.

New Hilux coming, it will have to be a Ranger beater. In development now, I would wait for those.

I have a Fiesta, and yes, it has needed warranty work (steering column changed) what a bunch of numptys working there (main dealer Chiang Mai) every time I have been there there is someone in an animated conversation with the service dept complaining about some aspect of their cars.

Have a read of Fondles experience with his Ranger, I won't be buying another Ford.

In contrast, we've done close to 100k in our 4*4 Hilux. Doubt you'll find such a reliable beast elsewhere- absolutely nothing has gone wrong.

    How old is it?

The only thing I replaced on mine is the battery after 3.5 years.

We bought it 2nd hand, off an expat. 7 - 8 years old now, 120k on the clock. Living in the backblocks of Isaan, it doesn't exactly get an easy ride either. Hilux is such a logical choice, it's boring. Such a reliable donkey, I reckon we'll have it at least another 5 years- if I ever sell it at all.

Got another Hilux for local bush bashing and hauling stuff (2 door), this one is a 27 year old jalopy and petrol rather than diesel. 280K clocked (but decently maintained, previous owners have a toyota dealership). Gutless, but reliable- jeez those things just never give up.

No, they went with 'Let's build a truck that out performs everything else on the market in every area' and succeeded. The only problem is that it was designed by Aussies and not Europeans, so it seems to have a few flaws.

Just bung a load of chrome all over it, a big inefficient pushrod V8 and replace the suspension with jelly and you're there.

You'd have to think that when the new Hilux comes out, especially if it has a nice interior and drives as well as the Ranger, it'll be a winner in Thailand. Trouble free Toyota (and Honda...) motoring, good resale values and even the locals have half an idea of how to repair them when they do go wrong.

Having said that, if you want the best truck/car for around 800k currently available in Thailand than it's the Ranger doublecab2.2 hi-rider XLT at 830k. Far better than the Civics and Corollas, imo, and much cheaper than a bullymobile such as the Fortuner.

I'd say that Ford currently has a very decent range. They may have issues to resolve regarding main dealers and maintenance. Don't forget that it was only about 10 years ago that Honda (who probably now have the best service here) had massive problems with their maintenance because it was Thai controlled; big daddy from Japan had to step in... It's a Thai thing, they'll fuk everything up; it's not a Ford problem per se; of course it is a Ford customer's problem...

Betty Ranger 4 door 2.2 hi-rider XLT is a Truck & not a good one.

The Fortuner is a wagon & best seller.

Have you taken one for a test drive.
