I own a previous model Ranger and have had mixed service.

The 'free servicing' is labour only which amounts to about 300B.

I am waiting to get a windscreen replaced and a couple of minor bodywork touch-ups: 4 month wait here in Udon.

I had a service a couple of weeks ago and the fuckwits put the 'empty' oil cans in the bed and didn't say anything. When I got home, there was oil all over the bed. When Ford phoned us up the next day to ask how the service was, she laid into them. We then got a call from Ford in Hong Kong asking about our experience and they have promised to send the Midget a free T-shirt to say sorry.

Apart from that, the servicing has been fine and affordable, even though I think they service the vehicles more often than necessary. We had a 3 month interim service, which although appreciated, wasn't really necessary.

I'd still go with Ford, as they're the only manufacturer here with Euro quality cars. Everything is dull/shit.

My vote goes to the Ford too, I have seen one recently in matt black (wrap?) with a nice set of rims and it looked great.

Well crap... should I get another Vigo then? Bit pricey, but was very happy with my last one and really surprised at the re-sale value...

Must admit the new D-Max looks pretty tough too...

Shit, reckon I'll probably just have to flip a coin >.<

Seems if one is fixed under warranty it opens the flood gates for others.

All is good bonus just came in so I'll pay out the finance and be heading to the Chev Dealer and see what they will give me as a trade on a Colorado.

My BT50 is also bone stock standard. I also have a manual and I have no noises coming from my clutch. I'm very happy with my Mazda. and my Mazda is happy with me, (it's always smiling).

with the drivers door open sit in your BT-50 and start the engine. push clutch in and select 1st gear then back to neutral once in neutral quickly step off the clutch..... if you hear a faint clunk it will only get worse from there.

^ I'll just add, I just had a 10,000 K service and the service manager says that he found a front shocker which was weeping fluid. He told me that he's ordered a replacement and will be replaced free of charge. and it was.

I have a 4x4 3litre vigo too, 2006, and have had no trouble from it in 110,000kms, apart from two new batteries and an alternator, interested to know about the injector cleaner you use, is it added to the fuel, or is it an under the hood operation?

You add it to you fuel every 10,000 km
a small bottle full tank or if you have 1/2 tank then 1/2 bottle.
I think that it is around 300baht at Tesco similar to this.
    It works

I thought I would bump this thread because of recent revelations about the ranger and also the d-max getting the 4wd ute of the year award in aust.

I had been set on the vigo 3 litre , but thought I would ask if anyone has a 2013 d-max.

how is the reliability , handling , power and driver comfort ?

The "Happy Truck" is the Mazda BT-50? Like I said earlier, I personally prefer the look of the Mazda, but the fact that their website is such shite while Ford's is one of the best I've ever seen in Thailand is really attracting me to Ford.

I've seen some Thai guys build a sort of "extension" for the tail of their trucks so that the bikes "appear" to be enclosed on all four sides. Dunno if this is enough to keep the greedy BiB at bay, but it might be worth a try. The "extension" is hinged and doubles as a ramp when it's time to load and unload the bikes, so pretty cool.

In the grand scheme of things the occasional 500 baht fine for "unsecured load" really isn't that big of a deal. Usually I only haul one bike at a time and when that's the case I should be able to keep the tailgate closed with the long bed Ranger XLT.
Don't let Ford tempt you with their site, as for their service reputation that's another matter! I too prefer the Ford, but from what I have heard regarding their service from an Auto reviewer I will not take the chance. I'm all for Ford but I can do without the stress should the shit hit the fan with the car. I have a Pajero which as never let me down, but my next purchase is looking more like a Toyota.

Pickups & cars in Thailand, I would only buy Toyota. Service support is totally a stress free exercise.

Toyota do have decent service and Ford's is pretty pants.

I will have my truck serviced at either Mazda or Toyota next time, so will get decent service and not have to suffer driving a Dullota.

I drove the new Ranger last year and really liked it. Almost bought the smiler (10 day delivery...), but they wouldn't give me what I wanted on a part exchange. I was planning to get the Ranger 2.2d hi-rider when get back to Thailand full-time next August. Maybe not now...

They drive nicely, have a really nice seat position and look great in orange. Have had no problem at all with the Honda servicing, although you do get the feeling that if Honda didn't have a decent system in place the Thais would fuk it up; thus Ford servicing with known issues could be a real pain in the arse... I will follow these threads closely.

At the end of the day, even though the d-max and hilux are probably not as good as the Rnanger for my needs (a car style pickup), you know they'll go forever...

Has any of you gents recommending Toyota, tried to use its brakes? The braking power is pathetic. To put it politely. Look at the brakes. They are basically the same as on the Vios, a small car.
