There's nothing fishy about a one-eyed albino shark.
It's not a Photoshop creation, but the real deal, according to shark experts who have examined the preserved creature.
The foetus had been cut from its pregnant bull shark mother, which had been caught by a commercial fisherman in the Gulf of California.
Photos of the dead small shark with one eye in the centre of its face became an instant internet hit after the images were published in July.
Shark experts said it was unlikely the foetus would have survived after its natural birth.

Its condition is known as cyclopia, a "developmental anomaly in which only one eye develops", according to LiveScience.
Researchers said although such a creature was rare, the albino shark was genuine.
"As far as I know, less than 50 examples of an abnormality like this have been recorded," Mexican shark expert Felipe Galvan Magana said.

Cheers for that. Always concerning when a well liked poster vanishes suddenly.

BUMMER!!!! My young Australian Arowana up and died today. I had only had it for about three weeks. One minute it was fine, then started swimming erratically, then rolled over and croaked. Upon closer examination, had red spots on his belly and head. Google says 'red spot' is always fatal, and may come from filtration problems, which I didn't have. Shit. I liked that fish. Plus, wife now says no more $50 fish.

If Arowana are only worth $50 where you are, then it might be a good business to export them to Singapore.

I frequently see them here for sale for well over SGD1,000.

^^Tiz: This was a small, young silver Arawana. Cheapest in the store. I didn't want to spend huge bucks on a kind of fish I had never had before (smart move). There were loads of them that cost much, much more - depending on size, color, etc.

So, after the untimely death of the arawana, I had a cooler full of guppies. Started feeding them to my big, flower horn fish, who previously had only gotten dried food. She LOVES them. Attacks like she hasn't seen food for months, and hoovers them down. She just ate about 30 in ten minutes.

    Ah OK.

I know the Chinese-Singaporeans think that owning a nice Arawana is good luck.

I always had trouble keeping goldfish alive for more than a week or two.

The good luck guys are the red ones. You can either buy a full grown red one, or spend the money on a new car.
