Surgeons in Mumbai have removed 232 teeth from the mouth of an Indian teenager in what they believe may be a world-record operation, the hospital said. Ashik Gavai, 17, sought medical help for a swelling on the right side of his lower jaw and the case was referred to the city's JJ Hospital, where they found he was suffering from a condition known as complex odontoma, head of dentistry Sunanda Dhivare-Palwankar told AFP. The condition results in benign tumors made of teeth-like structures

This colourful chameleon shows he's a lizard with conviction by reaching out to pray to St Francis. The one-year-old lizard, Kammer, was being fed by owner Scott Cromwell when he decided he couldn't wait to get closer to God. He reached out his claws in prayer to an eight-inch high statue of the patron saint of animals. TV repairman Mr Cromwell, 43, said his pet was far more interested in celebrating the holy man than in the praying mantis he was given to eat.

A massive fire — called the Carlton Complex Fire because it is the spawn of several fires that merged into one enormous blaze — spread over a quarter-million acres of north-central Washington on Wednesday. It was 52 percent contained Wednesday night as crews made significant progress along the fire's east and south sides.

But firefighters had to be pulled off the line on the north side because of the danger posed by strong thunderstorms causing 50-mph winds and flash floods. While the rain slowed the progress of the fire, "it takes a lot more than that," said Andrew Sandri, a spokesman for the combined state and federal incident response team.

One person has been killed and almost 500 homes have been evacuated by the massive fire, which has drawn more than 2,500 firefighters from across the country

The filmmakers behind that new "Jurassic Park" movie better add a lot more plumage to their computer-generated dinosaurs: Researchers say fossils unearthed in Siberia suggest that feathers were much more prevalent among dinosaurs than previously thought.

Paleontologists have long known that a class of dinosaurs called theropods had feathers, based on a close analysis of fossils from geological formations in China.

Theropods were meat-eaters, such as the Tyrannosaurus rex that (and a lawyer) in the original "Jurassic Park."

The girl is one of three giant puppets from the French street theater company Royal de Luxe that is performing for "Memories of August 1914," to mark the centenary of the start of World War I. A "sleeping" grandmother puppet was on display for two days and after "waking up," she began touring the city with the girl and her dog Xolo, telling the story of life leading up to World War I.
