A pilot whose plane nose dived out of the sky before somersaulting through a hedge walked away with just a grazed thumb. The twin-seater aircraft plunged to the ground after suffering engine failure and the pilot, a 59-year-old man, attempted to make a crash landing. He managed to land the plane in a field but was going too fast and crashed through a fence before coming to a rest upside down in a hedge. Despite the pilot being trapped for 40 minutes, when he was freed the only injury he had suffered was a slightly grazed right thumb

A soccer fan ran on to the field in Miami Wednesday night as Real Madrid took on Chelsea in a pre-season friendly match. Evading security, the fan made a beeline for Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

Clad in a replica kit with Ronaldo's name on the back, the supporter knelt down in front of his hero and then received a long and affectionate hug from the Portuguese star.

After the invader was eventually escorted from the field, Madrid went on to win 3-1 — with two goals and a man-of-the-match performance from Ronaldo.

    Jersey's demolition derby

Frank Hammerling of Hanover, New Jersey works on his car at the Nation-Wide Demolition Derby taking place at the New Jersey State Fair Sussex County Farm and Horse Show in Augusta, New Jersey, August 4, 2013. Originally begun in the 1950's in the United States, Demolition Derbies have been popular at state and county fairs throughout the U.S. and have spread to western Europe and Asia. With the dwindling availability of older large American-made vehicles, smaller full-sized vehicles of the 1980's and 1990's are more frequently used today. The two-day event at the New Jersey State Fair featured more than 100 cars and drivers from New Jersey and surrounding Northeastern states competing in cars dating from the 1960's to the 2000's.

A Reborn Baby kit is seen at Belgian artist's Beatrice Van Landeghem's workshop, called La nurserie des Tis Lous De Bea in La Louviere, Belgium. Reborn Babies are life-like baby dolls carefully crafted in vinyl, which have become swiftly popular with collectors. A doll can cost anywhere between hundreds to thousands of euros and takes around 25 hours to be assembled depending on the level of precision requested by people who adopt the dolls
