Looking to get out of the smog are we?

    Where you off?

Booking.com will be as bad. They're the same company, just with different business models. One hides the charges, the other puts them all on up front.

I preferred Hotels.com. At least you'd get one out of 10 trips free

^ the days of coal burning still exist ooop norf, you can catch a niff of it in the air, mixed with lard and bacon being fried and some BO coz its too cold to wash more than once a week in winter - nostalgia never smelt so strong.

Not forgetting the odour of the River Mersey wafting to the Pennines.

    Shipping prices are insane.

    It's high seas piracy, basically.

^ and interest rates soon as well. I'm glad i'm out of the mortgage market. I recall the early 90s with inflation @ 10+ % and mortgage rates at 14% for a while. For a decade or more after i locked into 5 year deals for stability and it cost me a bit. I think its going to come as a shock to a generation who've not known inflation and interest rates above 1%.

I remember that 14% time, it was tough to keep up. Someone I knew just dropped her house key at the bank and moved back to mum.
My children have no idea what is coming, three of them have mortgages.
    Stagflation on its way.

^ I worked 3 jobs back then at one time, one being selling littlewoods football pools and spot the ball (amazing looking back on it ) and my LTV was 10 times after the house values dropped, yep it was a struggle and i seriously thought i might lose my house but I was lucky as i always had a repayment mortgage.

Many bought into interest only endowment backed mortgages that were being touted as the can't lose financial instrument based solely upon projections during the heady days of high returns - 4 years later the projections weren't 20% of those touted and people were looking at massive deficits to pay off their mortgages. I felt for them, but its a salutatory lesson of "If it looks too good to be true.....". Many got compensation years later but by then they'd lost their houses and suffered years of turmoil and anguish.

30 years ago is a long time in the national consciousness and a hiatus a generation haven't experienced, i fear rising rates and an over inflated housing market will see many get a bloody nose again and the bank of mum and dad is going to see some heavy withdrawals. My kids have got their inheritance early, well most of it.

Messages from folks I know back in the states sending me F'n YT videos of some schmuck (usually a brit) yammering on about Thailand and his weekend whore asking me if that's what its really like.

FFS... I tell them to just stop it. YT is for entertainment and consider the source. If you want to know, board a plane and come experience it for yourself.

yeah - I know exactly what you mean. I think I posted before that I have lost my ability for a second sleep. Wake up, think f*ck it and go back to sleep. That is gone. This morning was a rare exception to an early start, why I was doubly annoyed to get woken out of it.

^^ My brother had an electric blanket, not one that keeps you warm, one that vibrates and rings out an alarm when it feels your weak bladder pissing all over yourself.

Although it woke me more than him mostly.
