Thread: How to jailbreak an Iphone

Anyone done this before ?

I want to jailbreak and unlock an old 3G

Version 4.2.1(8C148)

Anyone got any links to sites or any info ?

Did TFP manage to do it ?

I bricked this one today, but managed to get it back working again via a You Tube vid

why do you want to jailbreak it ? not much advantages to do it, unless you are a bored geek like Harryb

It's locked to o2 is the main reason, but there are loads of reasons to jailbreak

i havent done it myself but got this for you off another forum i use.

I've done it now using redsnow through Jailbreakme.com. You have to download it through Safari

Simple to do, took 10 mins

It's untethered too

Sussing out how to unlock it now, which that site shows you how to do also

To unlock it, you need a Mac, barstards

I didn't manage it last time but it was because the phone I was trying to unlock was the wrong baseband.

Unlock iPhone

Go to the tutorial for the model and firmware that you've got and then check your baseband against the list to see if it's possible.

Then drop the phone and a case of beer over at my place and I'll try not to get too drunk whilst fucking up your phone.

The Dev Team has updated their UltraSn0w [COLOR=#0090FF ! important][COLOR=#0090FF ! important]iPhone[/COLOR][/COLOR] unlock for iOS 4.2.1. UltraSn0w 1.2 will unlock iPhone 4 baseband 01.59.00 and iPhone [COLOR=#0090FF ! important][COLOR=#0090FF ! important]3G[/COLOR][/COLOR]/3GS basebands 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04 and now 06.15.00.

My baseband is 5.15.04, so I need to go up to 06.15.00, which is then unlockable

To do that I need a Mac because the Pwnage tool is a friggin OSX file

I'm gonna try and get o2 to unlock it Monday

You just input your device model, ios, baseband and platform, then it tells you if it can be jailbroken and/or unlocked

Unfortunately, the Windows link is bust, so I can't unlock

It's also got to be done on Safari browser, but only a 10 min job to jailbreak

Anyhow the iphone is jailbroken and unlocked now

I should have checked the install ipad baseband box when I ran red snow



Anyhow, all sorted now and a piece of piss really and a 15 minute job that I turned into about 20 hours

The battery life is quite shit, so I'm looking into that now
