I believe yes, but I've not tried it yet.

In the settings I've found a 'tethering' option, using either blue tooth or a cable. And when I upgraded the firmware to OS 4.3, it enabled a new 'create your own wifi hotspot' feature. As I said, not tried it yet but it says you can create your own secure wifi hotspot to share with up to 5 devices if you are in a 3G area.

Apple - iOS 4.3 Software Update
Android has had tethering support for quite a while. Through 3rd party apps in 2.1 I think, but natively in 2.2.

WTF is a "dumped" SIM card, and why do you want a Finnish SIM in Thailand anyway?

I was close to pulling the trigger on the Samsung Galaxy S yesterday.
The price at Carefour has come down some. 13,000 baht is almost reasonable.

It's a pretty impressive phone, I watched some Japanese guy on youtube try to destroy one. It took a pretty good licking before it succumbed.
    Pretty funny!

Anyhooter to carry on with my own quandary of my recently purchased iPhone 4. Any of you Apple users have problems with the home button?
    I do...
Apparently the remedy is to stick a vacuum cleaner onto the docking port and suck out the nasty dirt that is causing the home button to malfunction.

    No problems yet with that.

I did sort out my cover quandary though. I got an 'iphone bumper' and some new film to cover the front and back. The bumper is cool because it only covers around the metal edge of the phone and it doesn't really feel like its got a bulky cover on it.

It's luck I bought it coz when the girl fitted it and passed me the phone, someone rang me and my hands spazed out and I dropped it in the shop.

Lucky...I presume that why they call it a "bumper".
I still have not found a cover that I like. Prolly will never get one.........

Another quandary I am having is the bluetooth. It keep losing contact with my headset.
Beginning to wish I never got rid of my 3GS.

I went to Carefour yesterday to buy a Galaxy S. They didn't have any! Shucks! They didn't know when they would get any more.
Looks like Samsung is about to launch a newer version, the Galaxy S Plus with a 1.4GHz processor. I guess I can wait a bit longer.
After all the studying I'm pretty sure that's the phone to get.
I'm tired of the Apple BS. I gather they charge for all their apps, where all the Android apps are free.

Something like 60% of Android apps are free- the ones you have to pay for don't appear on the Android market app in Thailand.

The only app that I want that isn't free is Tapatalk (good for browsing forums on the phone)- I haven't seen anything else I wanted that wasn't free.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Thanks for that, but it won't work for me at my location- are you in Thailand?

I can scan and load any app that's listed for free on the regular Android market, but Tapatalk is still listed at $3 so I can't access it.

My 6 year old nokias were giving it up!
I broke down and bought a new "kinda" smart phone. When Carefour didn't have a Galaxy S, I noticed a new model on display that wasn't there when I started this thread. The Samsung E2652W Duos. For 3100baht. It's got a lot of features.
WiFi, bluetooth, 2G, dual sim/stanby, 2G memory chip, a pretty crappy camera with video, sit on my face book, twit litter, and a remarkable battery.
It's got a eng-thai dictionary which very cool, world clock features, alarms, timers, stopwatch, FM stereo, MP3/MP4 player, and some other slick stuff. It will even place a fake call to myself, I tried it and answered, but no one was there.
It has some games but I deleted them. No GPS and no operating system but for 3100 baht it's pretty impressive.

The quality of the display and overall well put together feel of the phone is very impressive.

It's got some kind of browser but not too good. It wont let me log into the wifi at my hotel. I'm still trying to decide which 2g service to use. Any suggestions?

One 2 call is good, 30 hrs for 120 baht, they just take it off your balance
