    Webcam Viewer

I am trying to use my webcam as a baby monitor until my Luvion Baby Monitor arrives.

I have installed Netsupport Manager and can now control and view the laptop that is in the babies room while I am downstairs.

I thought that would be the hard bit, but I cannot work out how to open and view the webcam and listen to the audio.

I have a logitech webcam pro, we have been using the logitech hd software to connect via the internet, it works perfectly as long as the internet is connected. Today my internet dropped a few times so I decided I wanted to be able to view the camera over the home network.

It has been very easy to set up Netsupport so that I can view the desktop, but how the hell do I view the webcam and hear the audio without needing to go on the internet?

You need something to drive the Webcam. This was the first link I found googling "freeware webcam monitor".

Free WebCam Monitor 3.27 freeware - remotely view the activity from your camera in three different ways download - FreewareBox.com

Not sure about audio with that one though; perhaps include that in your search terms.

    Or this:

    Thanks for the speedy replies.

Skype is out because it needs an internet connection. The logitiech software takes care of it over the internet very well already.

Harry, thanks for the links. Call me paranoid but I don't like the look of either of those bits of software. Although giveawayoftheday looks less likely to have some sort of spyware than freewarebox. I shall bear them in mind though.

You are right that I just need something to drive my webcam and the audio from my mic whilst sat at my pc. It should be simple, it's not, and it's rather annoying.

How is your Linux? There is a Linux program that is ideal, called "Cheese". (And another called Camorama). I'm sure they'd both run fine on a live install of ubuntu or something smaller like Puppy.

Fondles, webcamXP lite from cnet looked good, but it wasn't broadcasting a steady picture. More like a series of stills that changed due to motion.

Linux you say! Not for me, I have Vista and XP installed on the two machines, but will change to Windows 7 64 bit next month.

Thanks for the suggestions, I have found a solution. I can access the video stream via My Computer and clicking the webcam. The audio can be streamed from Netsupport Manager, it's a bit sketchy but will do if the internet goes down.

Looking forward to getting that real video baby monitor!

I never seen one of these work, but my gf has some wacko that sent her pictures of her on her cam when his name or anonymous was not on the list. THe only thing that changed was that superweb cam mode would not work, when it did before because I was the only viewer. Some how he is able to view it without permission and not being on the list. She has it set to ask first but there it not an extra name on the list, I have no idea how this is possible. Bought and installed Ytunnel and hope that stops him.

If he can do that, the chances are there is a trojan installed on her PC to which he has access. Suggest updating the antivirus software and doing a thorough scan and clean.
