Thread: no sound with HDMI from bbc iplayer

I finally got the BBC iplayer to work, but getting sound on the TV from the laptop along with the pic has got me stumped. I have changed the speaker icon to HDMI in the control panel and get the sound from DVD's through the HDMI cable from the laptop, but never with iplayer video. It must be something to do with iplayer, or the browser, but it's the same in opera as firefox. Searching on line has not come up with an answer so far.

One thing it says is that if you point the sound down the HDMI cable it won't work on the audio out until you return to the original settings.
