    free memory cache ?

Anyone know how to free up the ram memory cache in vista? Looked on the web and the only thing suggested don't work. Almost all the memory on my acer laptop is eaten up in the cache leaving next to nothing to work with.

Have you tried Tune Up Utilities?

It has a small sub-utility that keeps your REM freed up and optimised.

One of the best (IMHO) is free Finity Soft, FinitySoft - Free Network Monitor, Free Network Share browser, Free Food Additives information
    Try it - it's free!

smart ram works a treat but then the cache starts to build up again straight away so with 5 mins back to almost no usable ram, bloody vista, try Finitysoft next.

That's what it is supposed to do isn't it? When the ram is full the OS will start unloading stuff onto the swap file. Why do you want all your ram empty, sitting there doing nothing while the swap file thrashes data back and forth?

In the end I only have about 5 meg and media player will not work at all. Amazingly FlintySoft does work and you can set it to free up whatever you want, thanks matsellah at least I can watch video now.

Welcome, it's amazingly easy and it works - small footprint as well!
