    Thanks lol, I gathered that but it was entertaining - I've never been called a 'poof' because of the OS I use. Elitist and smug yes, but never a poof.

    Granted, it can be frustrating, but since the OP mentioned "making the switch" he may have time to invest in learning rather than just clicking on boxes hence that Slack suggestion. There's an enormous amount of Slackware help out there too.

    I tend to evangelise a bit too much about Slackware but it has never let me down, my beaten up old Thinkpad with 12.2 and fluxbox is a thing of beauty and flies along, even when the processors are throttled down.
