As usual wrong, Marmitte, talking out of your old ass again.

The User Interface experience was much better under MacOS, Excel was better under MacOS in terms of functionality and Interface experience than under Windows. That was true for the MacOS9 series, it could be different now under MacOS X

And you seriously believe that? There's probably only 0.00001% of Excel users who get anywhere near the limits of it's functionality or who could tell the difference between what OS it would happen to be running on. Sure, if you went back 15 years you might have a point, but for today; BS - pure & simple.

I sold a customer three new computers several months ago and all three choked on that retarded piece of junk and made the claim that the OS installation weren't genuine. One would think that product activation would be enough

Have you even tried it under MacOS 9 ? no, so again you don't know what you are talking about. And I am not talking about limits of functionality but like basic functionalities that were better implemented under MacOS9 for some reasons. Even today when I switch to Mac, using Excel is different as an experience than using Excel under XP. And I am doing a little bit more than sums but nothing really complex either.

I think the same thing applies for applications which at one time were mostly Mac-specific but were adopted to Windows.

I don't know what it is, but, if I use the same commercial app in both Windows and OSX the app feels more like a kludge in Windows than in OSX.

    Windows XP calls home daily

Munich (dpa) Microsoft's Windows XP operating system has a hard time cutting its apron strings as the system makes a daily internet connection to Microsoft headquarters in Redmond, Washington, the magazine PC Professionell reports.

The check is part of the program's Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) and designed to ensure that each operating system has a valid serial number assigned to it. But users never see this function, leading some privacy experts to denounce the operation as a form of spyware.

Microsoft says the service is still in the test phase and predicts fewer connections to headquarters in upcoming versions, the report quoted the company as saying.

The company expects contacts to decrease from daily communication to once every two weeks and connections will no longer be required on completion of the system.

But when the report queried why users had not been notified, Microsoft said the WGA could be deactivated, if it causes problems.

Except they aren't going to let you deactivate it.

Set your automatic updates to "Download updates and let me choose when to instal them" and then use "Custom" install and uncheck WGA when you are notified there's some updates to install.

If you have it then follow the instructions here:

How to disable or uninstall the pilot version of Microsoft Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications
