International bandwidth from Thailand, is it focked?

For 3 or 4 days now my download speeds have been varying from ok to very slow. ToT ADSL on TT&T. I've reset router and all with no better results.

    Your current bandwidth reading is:

    152.00kbps

which means you can download at 19 KB/sec. from our servers.

I usually always download at max 103 KB/sec but get slower speeds now from the same sites. Have any of you also noticed slower speeds with int'l bandwith recently?

I got 850 kbps today in my Condo in Isaan, the best bit is that the connection is free and part of my 4000 baht monthly rent.

Internation bandwith is sold to Thai ISP's at high cost and ISP's sell cheap packages at high contention. recipe for disaster!

    Brilliant!:

Hmm, 3 minutes later, this is much better! But maybe they need to learn arithmetic:

This is more realistic - 30% to 50% quality of service:

    Not bad from Seattle:

Thaivisa are about right - but from Thailand or International?:

    Meanwhile, back at 'ers -R-Us:

    ADSLThailand.com 861.5 kbps

    Your current bandwidth reading is:

    668.70kbps

which means you can download at 83.59 KB/sec. from our servers.

We both tested around 2 a.m. It's fine late at night but the traffic is just too much in the daytime these days. I 'll test again tomorrow at noon. Pattern repeats every day now, has to be CAT.

Shush... don't let on about the encryption. It's confusing the fuck out of the Thailand ISP techies at the moment.

And, I am dissapointed due to the fact I'm supposed to have closer to 15Mb down. Must be because it's noontime here in the US.

The internet is a bit iffy in thailand tonight. It won't let me download the applet to run the speed test!

For Torrents using azeraus try this.

Go to: Tools > Options > Connection > Transport Encryption

Check the require encrypted transport box.

Choose RC4 in the ‘minimum encryption’ dropdown box
note that RC4 uses more CPU time than the plain encryption or no encryption.

You can choose to tick the Allow non-encrypted outgoing connections if encrypted connection attempt fails box. This will ensure compatibility with clients that are not using encryption. However, it makes it easier for your ISP to detect BitTorrent traffic. I recommend that you try to tick this box first. If you are still not getting proper speeds untick it.

Tick the Allow non-encrypted incoming connections box.

I'm on MaxNet4Home 512/256 in Korat. It's been mostly fine lately, but the International Gateway seems to go down completely for brief periods of time. Here's my latest bandwidth test using the San Francisco server:

Download Speed: 408 kbps (51 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 181 kbps (22.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

That's almost the same download speed I get with the local test:

Your current bandwidth reading is: 400.40kbps
