    Lightbulb Ubuntu Newbie!!!

Used Windows and Internet explorer for years, was able to do the basic things but that was about it.

I was getting fed up of all the Virus crap with Windows and a good friend of mine told be about Ubuntu. After installing it, it took some time to get use to it but 3 months later lovin it.

Everything is so easy compared with Windows, and it's really opened my eyes, I've had a lot of help from some Ubuntu users.
Also not using IE is much better, firefox and Opera are faster.

Do lots of downloading of movies and tv stuff, things I never did using Windows.

Are there many Ubuntu users around on this Forum?

So you're saying that all Windows users get viruses, use IE and can't download stuff?

You're thicker than Noony said you were.

PS - I also didn't need 3 months of help from other people to get used to Windows.

Ubuntu is a very different kind of operating system than Windows, so unless you've used it no real need to have a go is there.

opera is only fast due to it cacheing so much, not a lot of good on websites with continually updated content.

opera has real keyboard issues too.

unless i right click on the mouse, the keys don't register.

i sometimes post whole paragraphs before realising that the message box is empty.
    it is quick though.

Yes, Opera is fast but I only tend to use it when I sometimes have a few slow problems with firefox, Opera is a nice looking browser though...

That's why I use Firefox. Not sure what that has to do with using Ubuntu over Windows though.

It wont install on my laptop due to bad RAM sectors. I can't be bothered to get new RAM chips for it.

    Opera is crap.

But guess you have to scan for them and keep you anti virus up to date, something on Ubuntu you don't need to do.

yes, need to play with the settings.

can't remember what you have to do now, but you have to make deluge or whatever your client is the default torrent client in tools, options somewhere.
