I have a laptop running on Windows 11 Pro, 22H2 together with Linux Mint on a USB Drive.
Last year, when running an automated update, I reveived a message from Microsoft telling me that my version of Windows had reached the EOS (End Of Service) and would not get anymore upgrades. Only the Security and Drivers would get regular updates, but the version would not be upgraded to 23H2.
I didnīt care to much about these upgrades and continued using my Windows version.
After the logging in screen, a message was displayed that Microsoft had chosen to close all the backdoors to hacked Windows versions and I needed to make a choice to a series of software I was using.
Example, my phone connection was a third-party program and this was from now on disabled and replaced by the Microsoft Phone connection.
Several programs I had been using for years, where all disabled and replaced by Microsoft programs.
I did a lookup in Google, and a lot of Windows users were reporting the same changes in Microsoft policies.
I don't want to ditch Windows at this moment, because there is no replacement for them in Linux.
What would you propose?
Going back to Windows 7 and hope that Microsoft would not do the same trick?
