Best email client ?

Piss off Google, they are using the fact I have a new tablet, to blackmail me into giving them my phone number, in order regain access my account - even though I have the correct password etc ..

I'm not playing, not jumping through their hoops.

So what's a good alternative, one that won't bully and harass me?

Maybe a small, cool independent one

I use Opera Mail on a Windoze PC and it works fine for me. Don't know about a tablet though.

Log in via your usual method ... PC or whatever.

That sounds like a phishing virus not google. Suggest you destroy your sim asap.

Take a mail at unseen.is. its from island. They have very good human rights in that country. I have an account there for several years now. Can also use it in a normal mail-client.

I have accts with both of these providers and neither have asked me for any phone numbers yet. Just alternate emails in case I forget the passwords.
I have had messages from Google saying they blocked hackers from trying to log in to my account a couple of times. Asking for the phone number isn't always a bad thing.

And that's just feckin' conspiracy! That Alex Jones nutter must have been off his head when he reported it 5 years before it came in, along with cameras built in to TVs etc that will invade your privacy. You know, from the documents he received.

The reality of it is, as seen with Yahoo in the last couple weeks; if the NSA or anybody else with enough clout, wants to read your email, you don't have anyway of preventing it. If they have a phone number for you not doesn't matter. And if they want your phone number they'll get it too.

I use Sylpheed. It's a bit clunky at times but it gets the job done better than Thunderbird and Mac's mail.app which is fucking abortion imho.

Also it's cross-platform which is handy. On the android phone I use K-9, it can handle imap accounts pretty well and generally stays out of the way unless it has something to tell me.

Both are free BTW.

anyway are you looking for a new email client or a new email service ? two different things here, as usual, most here wouldn't know the difference

If you only webmail to access your emails, there are dozens of good alternatives to gmail

otherwise, you can use your old Outlook Express or MS Outlook 2010/2016 to access to your gmail IMAP account.

Gmail and MS will both ask for the phone #, but it's just one option for password revovery or security check.You can also use an alternate email address.
