Samsung products seem to be increasingly annoying.

About 4 years ago I bought a smallish TV, the screen failed after just a couple of months.
I had one of my staff take it in for repair, Samsung wanted to charge for the repair.

I had to take the TV in myself and demand they honor the warranty. At first they refused and I politely told them they either honor the warranty or they would have to call the police to remove me from the service center.
I got a new TV, at the end of the day. (But still shit customer service to put me through that aggravation)

Three years ago I got a Samsung Note 3 smartphone. Whizz bang smart it was. But a couple days ago the screen suddenly packs it in, and goes black, Tried the online fixes to no avail. So it is now just junk!

I need another smartphone but I'm no longer thinking Samsung is a premium product.

What other up and coming brands are good?

Just get an iphone (as I will) iphone 7 plus... and 7 for the missus.

Sammies are too laggy/glitchy... 'ok' when they are brand new... but performance soon deteriorates (despite maintenance, deleting cookies, flushing ram, etc)

Samsung's touch-wiz overlay, is poorly optimized/heavy and full of bloatware.

All the specs in the world, 4 gig ram/quad core/4k screen are worthless without having streamlined software that can take advantage of all the power.

Just go iphone... yeah, I can't use widgets and I can't customize every minuscule facet of my phone like Android... but WGAF?? I'm tired of having to google problem solve annoyances on my phone... If you just want it to work, smoothly, efficiently, with no dramas, do yourself a favor, buy an iphone 7 or 6 depending on the deal.

maybe new samsung stuff is rubbish - I am still using a samsung 21 inch monitor from about 2008 - televisions ( multiple ) 5 or 6 years old - note 2 from 2012

though in the last 2 years I have purchased an Asus laptop , and a asus tablet ( z370cg ) and was thinking my next phone may be an asus zu680kl

I have Samsung, LG and and Older Samsung plasma. The plasma in my opinion is still better and the sound quality is great. Two days ago I also bought a Sony to replace the plasma as I can't use the USB input for movies as it is for service only. And as I intend to ditch True with its consistant repeats from 2013, i went with Netflix option and I'm glad i did. Quality of the Sony compared to the LG and Samsung LCD i have is better. Still prefer the colors on my plasma though.

Problem is, everyone I speak to mentions a different box costing from 3 to 7 k so I am not sure if they will end up like that dream box jobby. Agree, True is truely shit!

I don't watch TV much and after scanning through Netflix, 90% of the movies and TV shows I've never seen so for the moment it seems ok.

Get one of them boxes and whack Kodi on it.

Also stick utorrent on there and you can download everything thats on Netflix from Pirate Bay onto that box plus all your music. Run a decent set of speakers from the tv and youve got yourself a quality media centre all ran from your armchair

The Samsung galaxy tab s2 I'm using now is pretty darn good, but less than a year old.

I might resurect my original but now ancient galaxy s1, which still works . It need the old style sim card though.
