    Google Chrome Listening In

Google Chrome Listening In To Your Room Shows The Importance Of Privacy Defense In Depth

Yesterday, news broke that Google has been stealth downloading audio listeners onto every computer that runs Chrome, and transmits audio data back to Google. Effectively, this means that Google had taken itself the right to listen to every conversation in every room that runs Chrome somewhere, without any kind of consent from the people eavesdropped on. In official statements, Google shrugged off the practice with what amounts to “we can do that”.

It looked like just another bug report. "When I start Chromium, it downloads something." Followed by strange status information that notably included the lines "Microphone: Yes" and "Audio Capture Allowed: Yes"."

All Chrome is gonna hear from this machine is the growling and barking as my dogs go after another poor neighbor!

News broke where exactly? On some conspiracy theorists site?

Such an invasion of privacy if true would be International news, but only "TinFoilHat.com has the scoop.....

I don't have any microphones on any computers I own or use and I also do not talk to myself so I guess I'm safe.....

No, Skype is a stand alone deal like LINE which is faster and less buggy.

People think Google driving around in those funky cars is only to give us cool street views, so this wouldn't really surprise me.

Someone said to me Chrome is on 43% of computers across the world.

That's a lot of people employed to do one on one monitoring of the tip tap of a keyboard......

Skype is a pain, I find Line on phone is better from UK to Thailand than it is in the same city in Thailand, and Brown and Coney as so narak innit!

I doubt it. it's probably a super computer....... but unless one says a keyword to ones self I doubt that the noises I make will ever see the light of day.... if I had a microphone that is....

More a software innovation looking for key words or activities, same as NSA. Saudis and other Arab states have been using these software programs for years monitoring all computer traffic on the internet as well phone messaging.

it is true and is becoming more pervasive as the years go by - being actively aware of what is happing around you and in the devices you carry/use is likely to be better for your understanding than placing your head in the sand

because of the insidious creeping surveillance that is entering our lives via corporations ( which have less distinction from govts as days pass ) whose sole aim is to maximise profits

already they are shaping our opinions on everything they can and utilising strategies from information gleaned from many sources to sell us what they can to maximise their profits

this can only lead to the destruction of human individuality which will in turn limit our thinking and innovation
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.
