wouldn't do anything yet until windows 9 comes out next year unless unavoidable and needed now even then would consider a cheap chrome book short term. I've had a brief encounter with win8 and hated it enough to hold me off.
easy enough to put win7 on it - if the win 8.1 with win 7 shell is no good
it is a touch screen 11.6 inch - want a small 1-1.2kg machine now
Don't get a cheap touchscreen... If you want a tablet get a tablet. If you want a laptop then get a laptop, but a small laptop with touchscreen (win 8) is crap; I made that mistake... Getting one without the touchscreen (which you'll never use) will have a much better screen; the cheap touchscreens are utter crap...
Cycling should be banned!!!
I want a 10-11.6 inch notebook that I can buy in Thailand next monday
suggest away
Depends what you need it for. A cromebook is fine if ya just wanna do interwebbing; at that size, I'd just a tablet with a keyboard (such as the xperia z or even the evil iPad); if you're gonna do proper stuff for work, write documents, etc, then11" is pretty small for your big fat fingers, imho - I would not buy a laptop under 14"meself; portable enough and big enough to use (still average on the screen...). If you watch lots of videos, etc then a tablet will have a better screen; if you want a long battery life then some of the small ACER netbooks seem to be good:
This ASUS, ok it has a crap touchscreen, seems to come out as one of the best if you really want such a thing:
Asus VivoBook S200
So there you have it. The Asus VivoBook S200 is a brilliant little laptop which offers supreme good looks, slick performance and excellent portability, and all for a highly agreeable price.

It really depends what you wanna do with it though, as they all cut corners, and the trick is to get the one that best performs for your needs.
Failing that, goto Panthip, start at the top, walk around, bother the fukers for a couple of hours, go and have some lunch and comtemplation time, then go back and get the one you want.
I have one more suggestion:

Yes I know it ain't a notebook but worthy of consideration.

surface pro 1, starting at 15,900 now, that's nearly half the price they were when they first came out. Loving mine, the screen doesnt smudge eitherOriginally Posted by baldrick

not convinced these are the go - would ratehr stick to a regular laptopOriginally Posted by Dillinger
According to Microsoft, the 64 GB Surface Pro tablet would only have 29 GB of storage space and that the 128 GB Surface will only have 89 GB

you can plug a 2TB hard drive into them. Go have a play with one .This is the first PC i've had with SSD, starts and shuts down in seconds
What are you gonna use it for, Badders? They're all decent devives, but it al depends what you wanna do with it...

there are a few flaws with the surface pro, i will tell you about, but all have workarounds
1-only one usb port- i bought one of those multi usb thingymebobs
2- the clip on keyboard costs an extra 4000 baht.
but you can plug a 300 baht keyboard into it or just use the touchscreen, which as i said doesnt smear.
3- the speakers are too quiet- i plug an external one into it for movies.
4- HDTV: If your TV has an HDMI port, you’ll need a HDMI cable and a Mini DisplayPort to HD AV adapter or an HDMI to Mini DisplayPort cable (sold separately).- if i wanna watch movies or listen to music through my home theatre, I stream it.
5- the stand doesnt fold down to 45 degrees. theyve fixed that on the new one - for now to get a good wankin position i rest iy on the ashtray
apart from all that, it's great![]()
cheap lightweight portable laptop - movies , music , web etcOriginally Posted by Bettyboo
I still think the Asus X200MA will fit the bill - the downside is the glossy touchscreen , but maybe a screen protector will cut down on reflection - it gets 5 1/2 hours runtime - http://www.laptopmag.com/review/lapt...us-k200ma.aspx
sub 200USD for a 250 gig 7mm samsung evo SSD is good value - I first put a SSD in my dell XPS 18 months ago and it has been greatOriginally Posted by Dillinger

If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.
Can't go wrong with the small Asus laptop whichever model you buy.
I've had my original Small Asus for my travels, its maybe 8 years old came installed with XP, its never broken down. Been everywhere with me on my trips.
Maxed out the storage though with many thousands of pics.
Only this month Microsoft stopped offering their free Virus protection for XP, bummer really as it worked fine.
Asus. Yes a very nice little Laptop.
That's tablet territory, mate - just sayin...Originally Posted by baldrick

Balders, as you are now my Computer Guru I follow your recommendation religiously.
I cannot find the Asus X200MA on the online purchase shops.
Asus 11.6" TouchScreen Laptop Intel Celeron 4GB Memory 500GB Hard Drive X200MA-RCLT07 - Best Buy
Probably a decent machine if that's what you want.
it looks the bollocks betty, but does it come in pink?, just kidding, I can't deal with touch screen, cause I am a mouse dinosaur.
^I don't mind the tocuscreen per se, the problem is that it'll be a low end cheap one, so the quality of viewing on the screen will be very poor. I have a cheap touchscreen HP laptop, if I was buying again I'd get a non-touchscreen with a better quality of viewing screen - pictures on mine, video playback on mine, etc, is crap. On tablets, a lot more money goes on the screen, so you get much better viewing...
I have got a descent screen and plenty of HD 3TB storage, I just need the box, don't play games, I am just a bored old non Brittel watching DLed films no porn, and TD etc.
