    Help needed.

Due to me downloading a link that 'Dillie' supplied, I now open my browser (googan chrome) and a Thai browser opens before it...

How do I get rid of it, please?

If you go to "add or remove programmes" in your control panel you may see it there and will be able to uninstall it easily.

If it's a proper virus then it will need to be removed with anti virus software I would imagine.

    Did that already.
I think there must be an easier way to get rid of it, rather than going down the anti virus road...

Would that Thai browser be Hao 123 by any chance ?

If it is....read on. But first I will say I picked it up from somewhere myself and had to figure out how to remove it. This took a couple of days and by the time I sussed out how to remove it I actually missed it and reinstalled it. It's not so bad if you live in Thailand its just thats its a bloody nuisance when you have it thrust upon you without asking. I now find it quite useful.

    Anyway....to remove.

    1) Get into the control panel for google chrome by clicking on the 3 horizontal bars in the top right hand corner

    2) click on settings

    3) where it says ..' on start up ' take the bottom of the 3 options and at the end of the last line click on the blue words ' set pages '

4 ) once in here, erase Hao and put in the URL of the page you want to see on start up.

    Hope that helps

    What is browser hijacking?

Combat Online Fraud | Browser Hijacking

Browser hijacking is a type of online fraud. Scammers use malicious software to take control of your computer's Internet browser and change how and what it displays when you're surfing the web.
How do I know if my browser has been hijacked?

Home page or other settings change on your computer. Links are added that point to websites that you'd usually avoid.

You can't navigate to certain web pages, such as antispyware and other security software sites.

A seemingly endless barrage of ads pops up on your screen.

New toolbars or Favorites are installed that give you icons and links to web pages that you don't want.

Your computer runs sluggishly. Malicious software can slow down your computer.

For more information, see Hijacked browser | Browser security | Combat Online Fraud

BTW ..I always download the Malicious Software Removal Tool on my windows updated,it helps

    Boloa, cheers for that.

My next dilemma. How do I stop my on-line clock from 'changing' time. I'm always having to re-set it?

Do you mean the clock on your computer ? If it isn't keeping time then the CMOS battery needs changing. Easy to do on a desk top but best left to the techy for a laptop. Yiou can get the batteries from the seven eleven.

Charley open the case which usually involves removing two screws from the back casing. You then normally push the case backwards and it will come off. Inside you will see the Motherboard or the printed circuit board that everything plugs into. Make sure the power is of course disconnected as they have a habit of giving you a belt and look for a small, flat reound battery about the size of a one baht coin or slightly bigger. depending on how it is held in, remove it remembering which way the positive and negative were and simply match it up with a battery from the seven orr computer shop.
Replace making sure you put it back the way it came out and reverse the rest.
When you then boot it up press normally the Delete button that will take you into the startup menu. Using the up, down, left and right buttons select the set clock menu and job done. Exit saving changes and it should be good for another few years to come.
Treat everyone as a complete and utter idiot and you can only ever be pleasantly surprised !
