Can I stop all this spam and unrelenting adverts?

I shopped online with Tesco twice, and they took the liberty of passing my details to several companies (I should have checked the tiny, miniscule box, I know) and now I get about 35 emails a day from payday loan companies, PPI ads, dating sites that know me by name etc etc

I enquired about a Uni course last month and then gave it up when the criteria was above my head. Now I get spam emails from every college in the world asking me if I wanna study an online course with them.

I log onto certain sites for torrents and news, and when I click on something another page advertising a gambling website pops up. This is alll slowing my PC down and it's getting on my nerves. Tried adblock which does nothing. Nearly every website has pop up ads now, even BBC which tricks you into thinking your 'back' button doesn't work so you have to right click and find the previous page.

Is this all really the so-called future of the web? One of the worst is the Bangkok Post site which is the only one that can freeze my computer with all their fucking content.

Is there a program I can install which stops the pop up ads PROPERLY?

I have the best one called Admuncher ,
which cleans popups and adverts .
I'm always appalled when I see someone elses computer with all the crap flashing about .

Here's the stats since last version I installed

    Adverts removed: 494,030
    bandwidth saved: 14,544 MB
    Counter started: October 23,2012

Unfortunately is not free , but one of the few programmes I would buy.

I stole my last copy from a torrent site , but if you're not au fait with application torrents ,or its no longer available cracked , then it's well worth $20 a year as it saves bandwidth and speeds up loading a little .

    Anyway there's a free trial , think it's 30 days

And exceptions can be make to allow sites, like teakdoor to show thier adds - we don't want them to lose revenue ...
It wont stop your people sending you email spam though .

    Ad Blocker: Ad Muncher

I'm using Adfender and Ghostery which takes care of much of the shit. Ghostery stops all the tracking of your movements.

this is because your computer has been infected with malware - no amount of adblock will stop it

you need to fully scan your comp and remove the offending malware - best done by booting from a USB stick that you can easily make - though create the bootable usb stick from a clean comp

here is one way to do it
Malware USB, How to make a boot usb with malwarebytes,Malwarebytes USB boot, usb boot disk, usb boot, Malwarebytes USB boot, Malware USB, Computer Adware, malware boot | Computer Manual

though I personally use yumi to create the bootable usb disk and then add the iso's I wish to use to the usb disk
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

Would cCleaner get rid of malware?

I'm buying Ad Muncher, only $29.99 (£19.34) when I first run that would that clear the malware?

    Cheers for the link mate.

it is best to boot from a USB flash drive that you have set up as this does not boot your windows on your hard drive - it will examine your computer drive without loading your windows.

spend your money on a flash drive instead and use the free stuff linked to clean your computer.

anything called "admuncher" sounds like snake oil

Ccleaner and Admucher etc wont detect or remove malware.
Not sure you have any , might just be normal maniac adverts.

badlricks idea sounds good, but have never tried it , as the normal security scans have always worked for me,
you could try running these 2 , use free versions and see what they report.

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/

    http://www.superantispyware.com/

You could also check to see if you have any unwanted plugins / extensions on your browser, as they can generate crap
    eg on Chrome.
Click the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar [ three stripes -top right]
and select Tools - Extensions and disable any you don't know., then reboot.

To try to stop pop ups on chrome
    Click the Chrome menu again
    Select ''Settings.'
    Click ''Show advanced settings.''
    in the "Privacy" section,
click ''Content settings button'', scroll down to
    "Pop-ups" section
make sure ''Do not allow any site to show pop-ups (recommended)'' is still ticked

You don't need to spend money to fix this.

Open your hosts file with notepad.
If you are using XP it is here: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Add these lines to the end:
    127.0.0.1 teakdoor.com
    127.0.0.1 w w w . teakdoor. com

    (take out the spaces)

Save the file (make sure there is no .txt extension) and reboot.

You can also try what the rest of the world does and use a specific spam trap email when you first sign up for shit.
