Thread: Memory leakage

I never did get around to rooting it. Getting it all set up on the windows side of my mac was too time consuming and I hate having to do stuff on windows. It was simpler to just run the samsung update through kies, which actually was a significant improvement.
Anyway, I read somewhere the memory leakage thing is a hardware issue and not a software issue. Turning the device off periodically seems to resolve the issue.
Maybe some day I'll take the time to root. I just dont see the big advantage if I'm running a stock rom, and right now I don't see any advantage to changing the rom. What little I peruse the android forums I see a number of people going back to the stock rom.

The reason I say that is that the best memory manager I've found is Autokiller, but it needs root to do its job properly.

I'm certainly leaning back in the iphone direction, just because I dont want to spend the time rooting, flashing rom, and figuring out how to use the associated software.
I just want the device to do its job and then STFU!

Perhaps another way of looking at it is the iphone is for people who prefer to think about other things rather than fiddling with the latest electronic gadgets.
I actually like my sgs1 so I aint really burning to get an iphone 4s.

Say what?

Turning the device off, or rebooting, is probably killing all the software that is slowing you down.

Pray tell what rebooting does that powering off and on doesn't?

It resets and deletes stuff, i can't remember what, its like a computer, all your updates are installed through a reboot. I read it on some iphone forum. I will try and find the article

Also worth noting that iPhone comes with around 4" screen. Not exactly a replacement for a 7"tab.

Android is not the same with memory issues like Windows. I.e. running close to max memory capasity is not an issue like it is in Windows. Most likely you have rogue app that takes the CPU usage sky high. To find out you can eliminate one by one or install watchdog from market that will alert you when any app goes crazy and starts slowing your device down.

Also to be noted that one common issue on Android is the firmware updates. Very common that something goes wrong even if all looks good when updating.

To eliminate this do full factory reset and reflash the latest firmware.

Wow I just discovered something new in my latest firmware flash.

I can now tether the galaxy tab to the macbook as a wifi hot spot.

I tried this when I first got the android a year ago and it didn't work; now it does, its great.
This really expands the utility of the tab.

It is a nice feature, but you've been able to tether by wire since 2.1.

Not sure about the Macs though. I leave that apple shit to the gallic cocksucker.
