TD, I assume you will not decide yes or no after an experience of few of us here. Surely, in Thailand is a danger of breaking in, you see it on the windows of the houses around. Whether it is more substantiated than in other countries, that's the question.

And the Thai people do not mind to have the ironwork in their windows, they rarely look out. And they mostly have it inside the window, in order not to make an eyesore to the neighbor, never mind when difficulties when handling the opening/closing, it will not occur many times in year.

My house at the end of the village hasn't been attacked over 15 years, perhaps my dogs barking on the passers-by do the trick. However, if somebody would like to enter, he surely will help himself. And my steel wired mesh would be a joke for him.

On the other hand, I know also about a cases of a friend in the town house group, years ago stealing heavy cameras, but perhaps it was by an insider. Mostly it happens rather downtowns than in villages.

Otherwise what to steal? Perhaps some TV's but that's not so easy to sell. Rarely somebody would keep some money in house, or jewelry? I think you too will have luggage large enough to be able to pack it all when leaving.

BTW, what will help the windows barricading when the entry doors are so easy (for the TV haulage)?
