Time to hit the gym
Why is there absolutely no Thai music in the West? Hey, and I do think it's pretty good.
There is. Of course not mainstream air time as the demographic is small. My better half is allways on YouTube playing what suits her, mainly Laotian tunes through the surround sound. I can feel the bass line well before I get to the door. Bum bum bum bum buuuuum, bum bum bum bum buuuuum.
Many Laotian bands tour here in the states. You just have to be tuned in to where they play in your area.
The Laotians in Milwaukee have a temple near downtown. They have many functions there including live bands on the weekends. They sell all different types of food and of course sell beer and have a pretty good time.
And of course for a few dollars you can buy a cd or dvd of the band playing so yes its out there you just have to be in the know. Ask around if you are really interested and I'm sure if your near any major city you will find the venues.
Milwaukee has Summer festivals featuring many nationalities. Asian fest is at Veterans Park this year June 17th 18th and 19th.
It features all thing Asian so music wardrobe foods ect are all celebrated . Last time I was there I heard a group of Asian throat singers. Quite different they were. I have a dvd from that show so may post something later.
The festival is just north of the Milwaukee Summerfest grounds on the shore of Lake Michigan if anyone is interested. Might make a good thread. I'll see if we can make it this year. I better practice my photo skills first.

A show called The Freak Zone on BBC 6 Music which has been by far my favourite station for some time now. Eclectic music, clued-in presenters, just a phenomenal listen generally
That's curious. There must be Thai bands there too, then. I've heard some good ones, some with western players, some without. There is a very dedicated core of guitar players here and they're up to date on the latest and "greatest" Western rock. A fantastic young guitarist leads his own band in Phayao and they play the bar gigs there and nowhere else and he says he'd never leave.Originally Posted by fishlocker

Prince's Musicology album. Sadly (and indicating a fickle nature I suppose) it seems to take artists / groups croaking for me to get stuck into their back catalogues!
Dr Feelgood - Singles, The U.A. Years. Glad that Wilko Johnson is still with us after his brush with cancer. Mind you he's an intimidating looking man - probably stared the reaper down
A link to a Laotian tune.

Early Fleetwood Mac this morning in Duvall, WA.
Shit! I didn't know Fleetwood Mac was in Duvall, WA this morning.
Still to my ears, probably like the angriest album ever made, 40 years later. -Sounds like a Panzer division on the attack.

Maybe their best.?
Probably the UK's best ever (certainly most exciting live) rock band.
They did like to bash things around a bit.
