Really? I've read every major book written about the man. I have just completed reading Stephen (Hammer Of The Gods) Davis' excellent book about him. Never once have I ever heard him referred to as The Lounge Lizard.Originally Posted by Loy Toy

Here's Johnny Allen for you guys... aka JH
Best front man I ever saw was Pete Murphy 1978-80. Incredible stage presence, but it really did lend itself to the smaller venue. Would never have worked in larger venues.

Not the greatest but one killer show.
Or as a pirate and a sea lover. Again for the show. Still rocking and bald as can be, plus one hell of a businessman.

Not so much the lead singer, though James Hetfield did kick arse, but the band as a whole made it. Sadly, they all went to rehab and came out complete poofs which shows in their later music. I saw them live in Sydney on the 'Snake Pit' tour for the 'Black Album', they put on one hell of a show. Now they are crusaders against music 'thieves'. Complete back-flip to what they were all about in the early days. Metallica...

Have you read the book by I believe the Doors drummer John Densmore Bob?Originally Posted by Bobcock
And I also believe the term "Lounge Lizard" was brought about by a movie made around the time called Morrison's Lounge, but I could be wrong.

Jack Bruce must get a mention as a great vocalist especially with another great vocalist in the band.

They were here recently at the Heineken Music Hall (but YT vid is of one in Canada) in Amsterdam.
Well not a great voice technically but a great front man and song writer and the driving force behind one of the few great bans over the last 20 odd years.
Nobody mentioned Bob Dylan yet surprisingly. Before my time but a revolutionary artist...great guitar strumming camp fire music.
^ An American folk singer. He don't count.
