Come on LT,
99.99% of the world knows Morrison as the Lizard King, but because of one reference from a Densmore book he is now known as The Lounge Lizard?

there are others....googling Lounge Lizard, it's full of Morrison references.
Google Lizard King, you just get nature stuff, Morrison only called himself that.
Fair enough, I'll admit defeat.
To me he'll always be the Lizard King though.
Edit : Bollox to admitting defeat...
LT, you and John Densmore can keep calling him The Lounge Lizard...the rest of us will know him as The Lizard King.

To me also, but I'll try hard to change.
I see there is another new book about him just released by Alan Graham
I Remember Jim Morrison
“As intimate a portrait of Jim Morrison’s character and the forces which shaped his life and death as the reader is ever likely to encounter…”
- by Alan Graham
This book is not just another rehash of the same old sensational tell-all dirt and gossip, but a collection of bitter and sweet memories concerning the life and times ofJim Morrison a.k.a. “The Lizard King”.
"She's faster than most and she lives on the coast"
They don't write lyrics like that anymore...
Hey Thormaturge, I would have thought this guy would be top of your list.
Lead singer of Marrillion...
Having decided on Freddie I have to admit that Michael Jackson takes some beating, considering he wrote and performed, as well as danced like nobody before him.
I think his image will always be tarnished for the hobby he shared with Mr Glitter, for this reason he can slot into the top 5.
A man worthy of entering the top ten would be Liam Gallagher,Yes he's an arseho*e
but back in the 90's when the music scene was a little dull this guy stood against the carefully designed popstar and told him to go fuck himself,With his brothers songs
and an original rock and roll voice I struggle to see an argument against it
I dunno where the stigma is but this guy would have outsold all of these put together, AND WAS BY FAR THE GREATEST SHOWMAN
SHOVE IT UP YOUR NOSE UH HUH
priceless
Bill and Ben.
Deffo.
Or at least "they're up there".

No, he's deaded and the last time I checked I'm still kicking but I did meet him once at a party in Sydney in the mid 1970's.Originally Posted by sabaii sabaii

My favourite is Bon Scott.
The best is easily Freddy Mercury, as he's the only one of the so-called greats who could actually sing live to the same level as in a studio.
Actually Freddie struggled to hit the notes live but made up with it with the support of Roger Taylor's great backing vocals.Originally Posted by Marmite the Dog
In fact RT could of been the lead singer and was a big part of Queens sound along with Brian May's unique guitar sounds.
Freddie was the supreme showman and nowhere near the best vocalist.
Agreed.Originally Posted by Marmite the Dog
Plus I've never seen anyone whip a crowd into a frenzy like Freddie could. A true showman and entertainer.
What singer doesn't struggle with a few high notes during a long tour?Originally Posted by Loy Toy
Really? Wonder why they are paying Paul Rodgers salary then?Originally Posted by Loy Toy
Robert Plant, early on in his career was actually better with a mike in his hand then in the studio.
Then he had problems with his vocal cords and had to back-off around the time of John Bonham's death.
As a singer he is second to Paul Rodgers IMO.
Obviously to bring legends together and PR has done a great job without stepping on Freddie's memory toes.Originally Posted by The Muffinman
Plus we get to hear some great Free and Bad Company songs which is a huge tour plus and money spinner.
I remember seeing a gig where Brian May and Roger Taylor handled Freddie's vocals with eaze.
