I don't understand the American way of getting close. America bombed the country and anyone with a turban on his head killed was considered taliban. I wonder what would the kid whose father was killed by the american bombings would feel when a soldier walks to him and says " Hey kiddo! I can't help bring your father back but this football might help and see we have printed your God and Prophet's name on it."

How's about the Saudis send a million footballs covered in Bible verses to American children? That should balance things out and make everybody happy.

I've always been grateful that so many cheap Bibles are printed on toilet paper, that's come in very handy in low-rent hotels all over the world.

It is a certainty the American kids wouldn't give a monkeys what was printed on them & just get on with kicking them around & enjoying them. The biggest disappointment would be that they weren't made by Nike, or something.

Those Saudis wouldn't know a friendly gesture if it kicked them in the face.

When I wasw a lad I skinned up a spliff with a page from a Gideons bible. Those leafy pages work quite well

I agree with you there, some of the Islamic community throw a fit too easily. Then again, the western media always plays up the ravings of the fanaticists, whereas the moderate majority gets next to no airplay outside of academic circles.
Most of the kids for whom they were intended would be just happy to have a ball to kick around.

What pisses me off as an American,is that my country gives things away.I wish that it wouldn't give anything away,to any countries.If you want to give,give to your own people.Let the rest take care of themselves.

Has anybody ever seen a gideon? Maybe woke in the night to find one in the act of placing the good book? I imagine them as small hobbit sized winged goblin creatures that hover 6 inches above the ground while surreptitiously sliding open the drawer on the bedside table. Pausing to look in puzzlement at the cellophane wrapped remote control before depositing the sacred tome.

Sure it's simple really, the US has started a war in the Middle East that it cannot win conclusively. (that has been well debated in many threads, what is the death toll now 1 million? but..)
It has polarised the entire population of the world (at least those that give a shit) derailed positive political progress in the world, and turned many places in the whole world into real and potential flashpoints, you notice my mention of the world in those statements..
There is not going to be a sudden worldwide outbreak of peace, in fact it looks like things might get worse on worldwide scale for a very long time to come....
It is a war and it is a worldwide issue, the nature of war changes, from WW1 to WW2 and now to WW3.

What would constitute a world war to you may I ask, ze Germans invading France again!?

As for the comment, like we helped you, I assume you mean the reason the US entered the war in Europe and is a very debatable subject of it's own.

Anyway regarding the OP, I don't have any sympathy for militant Islamists, but I have even less for a nation that blows the shit out of another country, creates death, chaos and fear, then thinks it might help to passify the kids with footballs and wonders what everyones problem is.
