^ this reason, among many others, I do not believe Palin has "staying power."

The $700 Niemen Marcus handbag for her 7 year-old daughter, the shopping trips, and having to reimburse the RNC, etc.

    All made her look bad.

In addition to her not being to answer basic, straightforward questions from Couric and others.

    Flash in the pan.

^ she was more of professional celebrity than a politician...and her 15 minutes were up quite a while ago.

and i think i may have posted this earlier, i doubt she'll be around for a second term as gov.

    good riddance.

I'd like to see the polling numbers on her favorability in AK.

When does she run for re-election? (I'm googling now.)

    Edit in:

Palin will run again for her re-election as AK governor on November of 2010. About 21 months from now. An AK governor is limited to 2 terms.

'will' run or 'is eligible to' run?

She is "eligible." It will be her second and last term, if she wins.

I haven't read any reason to bar her at this time.

Of course, she may not choose to run, option for other forms of political office.

i'm not saying she can't run, but that i believe she'll no longer be politically viable come 2010.

She may run as she might be able to get some financial support from the hard core supporters. She will never be more than an also ran though in the Republican primaries. No way will your average Republican ever vote for her.

IMO she is no more relevant than Paris Hilton. Nothing more than an attention seeking wannabe with the media having great fun reporting her every move.

but as we know, it's the hard core folks who vote in primaries. if i had to guess, i'd say she'll run in the initial republican primaries and then be forced to bow out do to poor results and less than flattering scrutiny....but in the end it will help her get that talk show she's probably angling for.

i don't think she'll run again for gov....and if she does, i think she'll lose.

it's a different political climate already...and economic realities are going to be significantly worse in AK come 2010.

    So much for family values.

Bristol Palin, Levi Johnston Have Split Up: Tabloid

The Huffington Post | Rachel Weiner | March 11, 2009

According to Star magazine, Bristol Palin and her fiancé Levi Johnston are no longer together.
Now's Levi's sister, Mercede is telling all exclusively to Star and the picture she paints of life in Wasilla, Alaska is not a pretty one. Bristol, 18, has virtually cut Levi out of the life of their two-month-old son Tripp.

"Levi tries to visit Tripp every single day, but Bristol makes it nearly impossible. She tells him he can't take the baby to our house because she doesn't want him around 'white trash'!" Bristol won't even allow him to watch the baby for a few hours -- unless he's babysitting!
Mercede also told Star: "Bristol's just crazy. That's the nicest way I can put it. She and Levi actually broke up a while ago!"
In an interview last month with FOX's Greta Van Susteren, Bristol said Levi is "a hands-on dad" who sees his son every day. She also said they planned to get married once they were done with school.

Palin's son Tripp was born on December 29, 2008.

A breakup would be additionally unfortunate for Levi as he has "Bristol" tattooed on his ring finger.

    ^ palin.

she hasn't slipped into obscurity yet...give it a few months though.

anyway, some here on TD thought was qualified to be VP of the US because of her 'executive' experience.

IMO the palin family should have their own reality show....i'm thinking a cross between the osbornes and hee-haw.

Levi Johnston is in big trouble at the Sarah Palin household.

After taking about sex on "The Tyra Banks Show," Johnston – the 18-year-old father of Bristol Palin's baby – was hit with a blistering response from Bristol's mother, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

"Bristol did not even know Levi was going on the show. We're disappointed that Levi and his family, in a quest for fame, attention, and fortune, are engaging in flat-out lies, gross exaggeration, and even distortion of their relationship," says the statement from the Palin family rep.

"Bristol's focus will remain on raising Tripp, completing her education, and advocating abstinence," the statement continues. "It is unfortunate that Levi finds it more appealing to exploit his previous relationship with Bristol than to contribute to the well being of the child."

The statement ends, saying, "Bristol realizes now that she made a mistake in her relationship and is the one taking responsibility for their actions."

In the show airing April 6, Johnston tells Tyra Banks that he believes Sarah Palin knew he and Bristol, 18, were having sex when they lived under her roof. "I'm pretty sure she probably knew. Moms are pretty smart," Johnston says.

The couple, who were high school sweethearts, planned to wed after graduating – but ended up splitting earlier this year. At the time, Johnston told "Good Morning America" that he needed to mature before getting married.
so palin's kid is advocating abstinence?

what's next, rush limbaugh advocating a healthy diet and exercise?

JUNEAU — Gov. Sarah Palin stepped back from an earlier call for U.S. Sen. Mark Begich to resign pending a fresh election after a federal judge dropped charges against former Sen. Ted Stevens.

At a press conference Friday morning in her Capitol office, Palin claimed she never said Begich should step down.

Alaska Republican Party Chairman Randy Ruedrich issued a press release calling for Begich to step down and for a new election shortly after the news broke that Stevens’ charges may be dropped.

In an e-mail response to the News-Miner, Palin said “I absolutely agree.”
She clarified she agreed with Ruedrich’s call for a new election and for Begich to step aside until that happens.

A question on her call for a new election was among many posed at the Friday press conference.

“I didn’t call for Begich to step down, either,” Palin said. “I said I absolutely agree that Alaskans deserve a fair, untainted election for the United States senate seat. I’m not splitting hairs on how that happens. I’m saying wonderful, good. I want to see an election that is fair, that isn’t influenced unduly by some announcement that the sitting senator was facing a multi-felony count conviction. That’s what we were told. Now, come to find out, that wasn’t the case.”
    poor sarah.

if she keeps this sort of thing up, she's going to need a new pair of these...

As for the last couple of posts, Palin is very unlikeable.

Palin went very negative in the campaign, took the low road, and is perceived as beind self-interested and selfish by many of the public and the people directly involved in her campaign.

Patronizing blue-collar workers, dropping the "-ing" endins on words as in Walkin' workin' and talkin', for example.

The $700 dollar Nieman-Marcus hand bag for a 7 year old.

Palin took heat, but was she attacked? Not unlike other politicians running in an election. Palin did a lot of attacking herself.

And now, another bad PR move are the vacations being paid back to taxpayers.

Paline has high ratings within the GOP and people who identify themselves as Conservatives, but in the general population (composted of a lot of Independents, Palin has high negative polling numbers.

It's what the general voting population thinks of her, not the just the limited niche of what is now the GOP.

Not really,…….I hope the Republicans will elect a more formidable opponent,.someone who represents true conservative values. Not these nuts that seem to be guiding the Republicans now.
