You trademarked that word? Respect! Ok, the "Base"™ may support her but surely the number crunchers of the GoP realise that an election with her in it is a numbers-loser?

I think there are definitely some Republicans that think that, but are they brave enough to go up against Boss Limbaugh and the Fox Noise machine? If (a big if imho) nothing really scandalous comes to light regarding her then I think she'll be on the ticket in 2012.

The GoP won't have any choice but to put her on it if they don't want to alienate the base™ and also look like even bigger hypocrites than they do now. Nothing about her is going to change much in the next ~4 years and if they don't go with her how will they answer questions of why is she not a good choice now when she was in 2008?

The only way I see her staying off the ticket is if they promise her a job in the administration (shudder, imagine her as Sec State!) if she stfu and stays away from microphones and cameras for the duration of the election. That won't happen because she can't resist any opportunity to inform everybody what a victim she is.

Sarah Palin: the gift that keeps on giving, but mainly to the Democratic party.

McCain really farked up by putting her on the national (and international) stage imho.

The so called "base" is no longer a force other than in high level of noise. The GOP is in trouble because they have alienated their real base.

    Moderate conservatives.

Indeed but a minority with a lot of money and political clout in the past. The hard right no longer has the clout to bring down a candidate as they once had. Average Americans are no longer listening.

Indeed. I suspect a lot of Obama supporters would donate to her campaign fund if she was to run for president next round.

She got on the big stage by means of a tactical political error, now they cant shut her up. Best asset the Dems could have.

Larry Landry, 51, of Fairbanks held up a red, white and blue sign that that read, "Quitting: the new American value." The other side read: "Thanks for the laughs."

My favorite line from the latest million mile an hour speech by the Resignator was the one where she told people to be careful about accepting "government largess" (looks like she got out a thesaurus for once).

This from governor who to doled out checks of literally thousands to each Alaskan resident (each man, woman and child) in her few years of office.

Not to mention Alaska takes far more money from the Federal Government per capita than any state, something that hasn't ended under Sarah Palin.

But, of course, there is also insistence she's a hero for quitting the job she was elected to serve, driven out, among other things by "delicate, tiny, very talented celebrity starlets" who oppose shooting animals from helicopters. And then this bon mot to the media, ''How about, in honor of the American soldier, you quit makin' things up?'' Yes, she managed to dedicate her quitting to soldiers who cannot until their terms are over (and sometimes not even then).

Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan were bought and paid for by the Orange County GOP. They stayed on script. Palin is a loose cannon and could never be trusted by the GOP power elite. She will be used to raise money for the party. They totally understand her strengths and limitations and will milk her popularity with the base.

I do wonder if she is as thick as Bush Jr or if she is just simple. Simple minds let the tongue loose and don't think about their wider meaning.

She does, however, still have a lot of space in the minds of people . . . though if this forum is anything to go by, her supporters are keeping quiet as she may just have proven to be too embarrassing.

Remember how great the first Star Wars movies back in the day were -- Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi...? Everybody thought George Lucas is a brilliant director and screenwriter, when in fact others wrote and directed TESB, and ROTJ.

The public was willing to believe that, until George decided to set the record straight, with the three prequels of Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith - three movies he made sure everyone knew he wrote and directed. With no help. Just raw George.

We all know how that went, and suddenly we caught a glimpse of how poor a writer, and how worse a director George Lucas really is.

This is a similar situation - Palin should have kept her high-prized speechwriters on staff a little long - instead, she probably felt that she can write a damn good speech all by herself.

    I beg to differ:

    Palin's Resignation: The Edited Version | vanityfair.com

etc... etc.... Go read the link on top for the entire speech.

Groomed and wrangled, she's merely ridiculous and entertaining -- raw and unhandled, she's embarrassing...

^ That is just plain jerk-off reporting. Do you think no other politician rewrites their speeches? Another haha moment for VFair and the left wingers who attacked her family as well. No class, but don't expect more from these slug reporters.

That's not my quote. That's Norton's quote. Just for the record.

IMO, she's worse than Bush as she does have some vocabulary, albeit limited... Bush on the other hand is an illiterate...

She did leave the spin-doctors scratching their heads with the nonsense about petite Hollywood actress', second amendment rights and supporting the military... However she was spot on about the media making things up for the sake of ratings...

You don't get it -- the uncorrected version is the actual speech, the VF corrections are what a professional speechwriter would have turned in (and which would have been much better).

Basically, without careful grooming, she's just a dumb hick -- republican or not. This has nothing to do with her political affiliation - she's simply not all that.

Thanks for the copy, Daffy Duck. Extremely poor writing, rambling and incoherent, and factual errors in places.

I hope this gets around for more of the public to see.

Could ANYONE ,(hillbillies aside) republican or democrat, dispute that?

You may have decided not to agree with anything I write, but I agree with you on this . . . she does have enough of a vocabulary to be damaging, mainly to herself whereas Bush was simply an empty sack

Agan, sorry to do this, but I agree. She made herself an easy target, however, by being way out there and the journos had a good time being just as 'creative'.

I think the proof is in the pudding. Dems continue to expand majority in Congress and in spite of extreme opposition from the "core" GOP, Obama is Prez.

The GOP needs to change the perception they represent the ideology of the far right and bring a moderated conservative policy if they hope to regain the losses of the last several years.

Ex Governor Palin certainly doesn't fit the bill!

^ This almost sounds too good to be true -- to see that unraveling should be plenty entertaining, and certainly will dash any wet dreams from the GOP, that's for sure.

    Too funny!

More assurance (IMO) that Palin will not be in the national political spotlight again. TV and radio.
