GOP what the hell are you thinking, and what have you become?
No one of quality who has a decent chance of becoming president wanted to follow Bush.

Now, as expected, as some time has passed since the Couric interview, Palin is giving one-sided damage control.

Listen to there quotes, especially at the end.

In two separate and lengthy interviews with Couric over the last week, Palin seemed to struggle with a number of answers, including a defense of McCain's record on regulation issues. She also appeared to stumble when relating her views on the financial bailout, her foreign policy credentials, her preferred news sources of news, and a Supreme Court case she disagrees with.

"Man, no matter what you say you are gonna get clobbered," Palin told Fox about her heavily-scrutinized performance. "You choose to answer you are going to get clobbered on the answer. If you choose to pivot and try to go onto another subject that you believe Americans want to hear about, you get clobbered for that too."

Here is a brief portion of the Charles Gibson interview. All politicians will dodge and weave on questions from time to time.

    Listen to the question.
    Listen to Palin's answer.

^Charles Gibson is a left wing hack.
Imagine if Greasy Joe were asked entrapment-type questions as Palin was, eh?

Wassila debt-free when she took over . . . $13million in debt when she left? Nice economics, or didn't I hear correctly?

Seaplane. Massive house on a lake. Middle Class? Sure. Of course. Most welfare-recipients have at least a Cessna.

One good thing, though, she gave credit to Hillary for some of her actions in the primaries . . . of course to further her own position and criticise Obama for not choosing her, but kudos nonetheless.

A left-wing hack? I'd like to see interviews from lots of people for Palin . . . I really would, as would even recognised right-of-centre news organisations.

Right...well, don't know 'bout y'all but an income of $166K is definitely middle-class in most folks books...

Do you consider yourself middle-class then, BM? Have many friends that are? Added to which, that is not their sole income, is it?!

I'm not saying that USD160k is an emabarssment of riches, it isn't, but neither is it middle class.

According to the 2005 US Census Bureau, only 15.73% of US have median household income over $100K. 3.17% fall into the $100k to $200k level. $166k is way above the average national median.

    National median is $48,023.

It all boils down to where you live on this Globe. $166K in Alaska would equate to around $100K - 120K in the lower 48. Don't forget, Alaskans must pay more to live as the cost of goods up there are more expensive.

I consider myself middle-class and all of my friends / associates as well but the only way we're getting 'ahead' is to work outside the states and avoid Uncle Sam...

That's what I mean. By all definitions, the above figure would be 'middle' class. I certainly don't consider myself middle class, in terms of my income, and I'm not on USD160k base . . . and I certainly don't a have a plane

Yes, but of course the US has the dreaded double-taxation treaties with quite a few countries . . . something I have always found quite unfair, irrespective of who initiated it. It's an easy tax to levy as the opposition is fairly mute on this issue.

Aren't tax rates in Alaska more than generous (state taxes), as well as sales taxes etc . . . zero, I believe.

Mind you, one has to be compensated for living there, as pretty as it may be at times . . . friggin' freezing and you never know when the Russians will come marching over . . . you know that you can see Russian from ..... (The devil made me do it)

Boon Mee sums it up nicely. It's all about greed. He doesn't want to pay tax and will vote for anyone who will give the rich an easy ride,

So who's paying for the bail out ?

We didn't fall off the Turnip Truck yesterday K. Begbie. And, even if you were paying that rate working in Malaysia / SE Asia, there are myriad numbers of ways to reduce that amount...

Well IMHO if you don't pay your tax you shouldn't have a say in who runs the country.

    "the hard way"???

Isn't Tex on an early cushy pension, courtesy of the merkin tax-payer after pushing the pen on his desk from left to right and back again for a couple of decades?

Well, they got a nice place with land on a lake, a nice plane and a nice boat, and a few kids. Sarahs parents are teachers, not champagne rich.

The Palins seem to be doing mighty well for middle class folk. Real hockey mums, eat your heart out. Must be some perquisites attached to the Palins line of business that don't show up as declared income, methinks.

I've always noticed that council types make some amazingly good real estate investments.

Declared 166K taxable income. That does not include whatever other emoluments that good ole' Sarah gets as tax free expenses- they're not bad as guv'nor y'know, especially when you charge the taxpayer to work at home more than you actually go to your State provided office and mansion in the State capitol . Then theres capital gains, and I know from first hand experience those council folk just seem to get it right on real estate, especially land that is about to be rezoned. And, well, who knows what else. Alaska provides a myriad of opportunities.

That ain't no hockey mums house, plane and boat there booner.
