brit you've proven many times that you have very little knowledge of things american, so i'd suggest you read the link.

one can only hope that you know more about your own country...but i have my doubts.

That would appear to make Wasilla the governor's tax home, which would mean that under IRS regulations, any per diem she received for staying in that home is considered taxable.
if she hadn't been such a greedy bitch and tried to screw the alaskan taxpayers out of that $17K (for staying in her own home for god's sake), she wouldn't be facing these allegations right now.

I would agree some of the luster has worn off the Palin pick. But she did wonders to turn this race on it's head. Sure there is a chance that the gains McCain has made since her selection will eventually all be eaten away. But I don't think any other VP pick (out of those mentioned time and again as options) would have place McCain ahead in the weeks after the conventions.

    Hot off the presses:
The Associated Press: In Palin, GOP sees chances with swing voters

Not only has she helped to shore up the red team base:
Palin's greatest gift to McCain so far appears to have been in shoring up support for him among core conservatives, who have held the Arizona senator at arm's length but embraced the Alaska governor enthusiastically. She's a darling of the GOP base for her conservative positions, most notably her strong opposition to abortion in almost every case, telegraphed vividly each time she appears with her infant son Trig, who has Down syndrome.
She also seems to be helping with independent and some ex-Clinton supporters:
Beyond that, though, Palin is giving McCain an opening with a crucial group of swing voters — many of them women like Thibault — who espouse traditional values but are working class and mostly concerned about the economy.

Some of them had previously supported Clinton because she connected with them on pocketbook issues.
No doubt McCain-Palin won't get the majority of ex-Clinton supporters, but they will get some, and as tight as this race seems to be every bit helps.

And this artical is even giving Palin some credit for attracting Reagan Democrats:
Like the so-called "Reagan Democrats" of the 1980s, they are economically liberal and socially conservative. In bad economic times, they lean toward Democrats who promise help on key pocketbook issues, but they're drawn to Republicans because of their stances on cultural issues.
More on McCain-Palin's growing appeal to the independents:
Independents swing toward McCain - John P. Avlon - Politico.com

In the wake of Sarah Palin, John McCainhas opened up a 15-point lead among independents, according to a new Gallup Poll — and Barack Obama has a real problem.
"Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it, you'd have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, it takes religion" - Steven Weinberg

Fully agree. She did pull the party together. Also, the bump in the polls will subside in a few days.

She will now have to prove she was a good choice by showing she has what it takes to play in the big league.

    normally it isn't.
but when palin decided to screw the taxpayers of alaska out of 17K, it seems like she she opened herself up to a legitimate tax liability.

why doesn't she just release her returns and let the american people and the IRS take a look?

17K? Oh, sorry, that's probably more than your annual sabbatical pay for your ethereal doctorate, ray. Didn't mean to belittle your income total.

oh, man. as i've said to boon mee....it always brings a smile to my face when i read this silly attack of last resort.

quick question jet.....if you're such a hotshot investment banker, and you've made it plainly clear that you have a clear desire to live in america.....why haven't one of the top investment banks in NYC scooped you up?
it's not like you have any ties to canada....personal or otherwise.
    just wondering.

and btw, i thought you 'retired'.

Looks more like Obama looking for Biden - does anyone even know where Biden is these days?

I heard they were going to trade in Biden's big ol' campaign bus and plane for a 1970's era VW bus, and a Cessna; and they would still have room left over to pick up hitch hikers.

Of course one can not really blame Obama for not putting Biden front and center Biden does not really fit the mold Obama laid out for his form of government (at least not back when Obama was running against Clinton). Back then Obama was all about how he had shown better judgement than Hillary be cause he did not support the war with Iraq (whoops Biden did), and how he (Obama) is all about change and how we can not have the same ol' same ol' in the top jobs (whoops Biden is more of the same ol' same ol'), and then Obama ran an ad about how McCain came to Washington way back in '82 (whoops Biden moved to Washington back in '73). Talking about the bush leagues it looks like it's three strikes and Joe is out.

Well maybe not out, but certainly off the radar right now.

Here's is Palin's interview with Charles Gibson. Note: it's part 3 out of 4.

Topics are taxes, earmarks, and accusing Obama of raising taxes, when he's actually going to cut them.

Here is part 2 out of 4.

This section focuses on the "bridge to nowhere." And she also supported an earmark for a "road to nowhere" that cost 48 million dollars.

She also repeated her convention speech during campaign stops in several states, simply repeating what she said during the convention.

    She's just another politician:

I didn't notice. Yes, I am always suspicious of interviews because of the editing, clipping, and chopping.

My point is: she's just another politician.

She claims to be an outsider. She isn't.
She claims to be a "Maverick." She isn't.

    Another politician.

With 6 weeks to go, the media is getting tired of her, as the news runs 24/7. Her novelty is starting to wear off.

The media does this with many high-profile people.

Sure she's just another poli. But so are all of the candidates. She seems to have more personal conviction than the others, IMO.

Isn't that one of those "subjective nouns" or the like? i.e. I have personal convictions, you are a bigoted loony?
