Palin daughter's boyfriend calls himself a 'redneck'

The boyfriend of US vice-president candidate Sarah Palin's daughter describes himself on his MySpace page as a "f****** redneck" according to news reports.

Bristol Palin's boyfriend has been named as 18-year-old high school hockey player Levi Johnston.

It was announced yesterday that Bristol, 17, was pregnant, just days after her mother was named as John McCain's conservative running mate.
According to Britain's Daily Mail, Johnston said on his MySpace page: "I don't want kids."

The New York post reports that the page has since been taken down.

    latest update:

    Odds for Palin
Today, William Hill cut the odds that Palin, 44, would be sacked to 8-1 from 20-1. Paddy Power now puts the odds of Palin leaving the ticket at 14-1, compared to 28-1 before yesterday's disclosure about Bristol Palin, the daughter. The Paddy Power betting house is also offering 33-1 odds that she will go by the end of this week. Ladbrokes is offering 10-1 odds that Palin will quit the race.

Intrade, a Dublin-based peer-to-peer betting Web site, opened a contract on Palin to be withdrawn as the Republican vice presidential nominee. The latest price was 12 cents, up 9 cents today. Each contract at that price will pay 88 cents per contract if Palin leaves the ticket.
leave the ticket? but mcsame said he and gimick were "soulmates".

The Palin nomination might just be a brilliant move if American voters are stupid enough to fall for Republican culture war demagoguery.

In other words, get ready for Bush part III.

The Republicans want this to be a big election about small things. It worked in 2004 with gay marriage etc, it could work again.

    Depressing.

Guess the Dems want to lose, beating up Palin on these trivial matters is making them look like muppets again. This negativity will be once again their undoing.

How do you reconcile that statement with the beat-up job that was surrounding Obama?

I don't think the GOP needs any help from the Dems. Her selection is causing the GOP to self destruct. It's not just the Dems. Mainstream media is on all these latest revelations like stink on shit. In trying to stem the "bad press" the GOP is spending way to much time defending her on what I'm sure most Republican's now believe was a major tactical error. She has now become a major distraction to the GOP. One they can little afford given their recent 4% point drop in the polls.

If you are that certain, check out the odds with William Hill, you could nearly triple your money at 13/8.

I recommend putting your money where your very convicted mouth is.

Obama is a much less attractive 4/9.odds on favourite.

tell william Hills that polling isn't important.

not very good odds - who'd take that wager? Now if it were 40to1, I might take that up.

I'm not so sure about that. I think the Repubs wanted and desperately needed the distraction - they created it by design to draw attention away from the Bush/McCain linkage.

They're hoping to blunt the Dems attack on McBush's policies and make the election be about abortion and other culture war issues.

Can they do it? I'm concerned that the Dems have such a small lead, and will somehow manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

US Republican presidential candidate John McCain, whose presumptive running mate disclosed that her unmarried 17-year-old daughter is pregnant, has opposed proposals to spend federal money on teen-pregnancy prevention programs and voted to require poor teenage mothers to stay in school or lose their welfare benefits.
Condoms and teen pregnancy stumps US Republican presidential candidate John McCain
