Yup...same guy.. He scored what was likely the biggest capital gain in history when he bought up dozens of companies in England at firesale prices. Everybody believed that England was about to be invaded by Bonaparte. Rothchild had intel from the continent that the Prussians were going to join up with Wellington and kiss ass...which of course came about at Waterloo. Then everybody wanted to buy their stock back. Rothchild sold it back at the new and greatly improved market value....
It's pretty amazing to watch stock in good solid profitable companies being dumped like this and at the same time seeing so much money being poured into virtually bankrupt countries....![]()
The same old bullshit again- money is pouring onto the USD and US bonds as a 'safe haven'. The AUD is back to parity, a bit of a short term bummer for me 'cus I what to shift some money into stocks. But I sure as hell won't be buying US debt. Or gold.

”Imagine your house is burning. You call the fire department but your call isn't answered because every fire fighter in town is debating whether there will be enough water to fight fires over the next ten years, even though water is plentiful right now. (Yes, there's a long-term problem.) One faction won't even allow the fire trucks out of the garage unless everyone agrees to cut water use. An agency that rates fire departments has just issued a downgrade, causing everyone to hoard water.
While all this squabbling continues, your house burns to the ground and the fire has now spread to your neighbors' homes. But because everyone is preoccupied with the wrong question (the long-term water supply) and the wrong solution (saving water now), there's no response. In the end, the town comes up with a plan for the water supply over the next decade, but it's irrelevant because the whole town has been turned to ashes…
Welcome to recession 2.0 folks.

There are a number of countries, high in the "best places to live" list, which are socialist. These countries are high tax countries but the taxes are spent on the population and the taxes are directed by a "responsive", to there voters, government.Originally Posted by Boon Mee

The designers and users of these systems have one, been designed to produce the greatest "profit" for the proscribed events and two deployed by companies when required. Both of which are conscious decisions by consenting adults, not some faceless computer chip.Originally Posted by LooseBowels

raise the taxes and cut the loopholes, thats all that is really needed at this point
^Not going to happen. The Republicans have loaded their half of the Dirty Dozen with goose stepping Tea baggers.
The rich will continue to get their tax breaks and the oil companies will continue to get their welfare checks but we will get a big reduction in defense spending as a consolation prize.
I like to start my day with a SoCal post and a couple of cartoons before facing reality.
^You should definitely take him off ignore, R. Socal is the most unintentionally funny guy on the forum. Read his "Pattaya beaches aren't dirty thread" sometime, every one of his posts is golden! Especially when he posts a stock photo of Jomtien beach to make his case!
