A BARE-headed biker died after losing control of hise motorcycle and hitting his head on the pavement — at an anti-helmet rally.
Philip A Contos, 55, would probably have survived had he been wearing a helmet, cops said.
The tragedy happened after he hit the brakes. His 1983 Harley-Davidson then fishtailed before he went over the handlebars and on to the road.
He later died in hospital from a fractured skull.
State Trooper Robert Jureller said of the accident in Onondaga, New York: "The doctor felt that the death could have been prevented if he simply had been wearing a helmet.
"He hit the brakes, lost control, was ejected and struck his head on the road. He suffered a skull fracture."
New York is one of 20 states in the US that requires motorbike riders to wear helmets.
