Sorry , but wrong solution.

Australia is still a signatory to the 1951 Convention on the status of Refugees and as such has an obligation to consider any applications for asylum that may be submitted within their territories where the jurisdiction of their sovereign law prevails.

Of course they may decline to accept any such application if they have evidence that the applicant had arrived from a third country that was also a signatory to the Convention to which that person could be returned.

As far as I know Malaysia is not a signatory to the Convention and its treatment of refugees is well known to be woeful and inhumane.

The decision of what passes for the Australian government ( isn't that woman absolutely awful ) to return these people to Malaysia is manifestly in breach of their Convention obligations and as such I cannot see it withstanding any competent legal challenge.

If they are truly seeking only asylum they could do it at a country nearer to where they came from and not half way around the world.

What a sensational point. Why Australia, assumingly anywhere would be better than their country. We just watched 60 minutes and there was a story on there about the people who come here and they are poor at all, they are rich fuks and have travelled previously before coming here on the boat. At the end of the day it costs this flotsam 10k to come here, if they were that poor where do they come up with that loot?
I hope to find the link to the story soon, but they were interviewing a family who was well off and were luck enough to come here on the boat and stay.

Yep, the situation is truly foked up, the scum pay a shit load of money for the boat trip so they are not a true refugee's arsehole.

My taxes goes towards to supporting these arse holes with free housing, medical, food and social security whilst some of our own people live on the streets.

The labor government lead by the " Wranger " is at last trying to short circuit the scam by sending these throttlers to Malaysia to join the cue for entering Australia as genuine refugees. In other words join the foking line and go through the correct process.
