Is it possible he has changed his mind about a run for the Presidency in 2012?

Would be a strong candidate if he can convince the masses he was duped but soldiered on like a good soldier anyway.

Would play well with GOP moderates and right wing. Not to mention get a fair share of the minority vote.
I see what you mean, but I don't think "I was made a fool of despite having a wealth of information and access, not to mention a dedicated staff of Washington heavy-hitters and plenty of my own people in the Pentagon" is much of a sympathy play. He has no excuse. I think the presidency ship has sailed, but given how divided and desperate the GOP it could easily split into two separate parties*, with a leadership spot in the non-crazy one for Powell. Problem with that is the neocon wing of the Rethugs despises the tea partying Palin wing as much as it does the old-school Eisenhower wing of Powell & Co.

*As opposed to the Dems, who for years have maintained a party that resembles nothing so much as a high-functioning multiple personality disorder sufferer.

If you want to know some factual information on this topic rather than reading on an internet forum, check out Jane Mayer's book
"The Dark Side: The Inside Story of How The War on Terror Turned into a War on American Ideals." Be forewarned: The book will not make you happy.

^So Mayer discusses the deception of Colin Powell in the run-up to Iraq War II in "The Dark Side"? Didn't know that. She is always worth reading. Plenty of her writing is available at the New Yorker website, not to mention interviews such as that with Bill Moyers Bill Moyers Journal . Watch & Listen | PBS Don't think she mentions Powell, but it is interesting and indeed disturbing all the same.

It's well worth reading, and my jaw dropped about every 4 pages. Just unbelievable stuff, but she backs it up with lots of specifics, memos, names, companies, and N-numbers of aircraft.

The CIA knew there was no case for war, but the neocon's told them to come up with something - anything. Powell new it was BS, you can call him a good soldier or gutless and unprincipled, I'll choose the latter.

The media is also to blame for not providing a counter argument, especially after regurgitating all the crap from Rumsfield and Co. about Al Queada underground fortresses in Afghanistan.

There is also an episode of PBS's Frontline that details the lead up to war. The neo-cons wanted invasion, CIA Director George Tenet knew there was no info, but brownosing to Bush he had the CIA come up with something and passed the buck to Powell - who made Tenet sit behind him when he presented the BS to the UN.

That is your opinion to which you are entitled.

Looking in a braoder manner, how many of us are truly principiled? Powell supported the administration-because thats what you do when you get on board. Powell did resign afterwards apparently because he could no longer support war. How many others resigned positions of power? Both in the USA and other "Coalition of the Willing" participants?

Anyway, the Iraq war was a stupid waste of resources, wealth, and more importantly, lives.

And it was all about oil, not WMDs

It was a piss poor effort, resigning and taking a stand would have really taken guts. There were several in the British labor party who did so.

Resigning afterward and now claiming he didn't know makes him look like a joke.

    So you say...

In September 2005, Powell was asked about the speech during an interview with Barbara Walters and responded that it was a "blot" on his record. He went on to say, "It will always be a part of my record. It was painful. It's painful now."
