It's been a while, but every so often, one of the sexpats from Europe or the USA thinks that every woman in Thailand is "available" then grabs and gropes their way into a jail cell. I've read several of those stories here, just not recently.
Ok fair comment, now tell us when was the last time you heard of a whole mob of Euro or US sexpats attacking one Thai girl? I can't think one a single time, these Egyption pigs did on camera ffs, that's how acceptable they think it is.

No, and the comment was in response to the one about Iranian university students getting culture training, not the assault. In every society, there is a small percentage of people who will run wild the second law enforcement breaks down. Look at Los Angeles in 1992, any white woman who wandered into the middle of that riot probably would have gotten the same or worse. What happened here was not representative of the Egyptian culture or beliefs, it was a mob taking advantage of the situation.
With that said, everyone I've known who has gone to Egypt has regretted it and would never go again. Being physically grabbed by street peddlers and pressured to buy crap is the recurring complaint I've heard.

So, this 39 year old former something has now confirmed that she WAS NOT raped. The "brutal and savage sexual assault" was being groped. Got some good news play out it.

The bottom line is, if man or women reporters go into a war zone anything is liable to happen.

The girl played her cards and decided to have a crack, the hand she played ending up losing.

Not much of a story in my mind, not good , but hardly surprising.

But they weren't a rampaging mob, they have been well behaved so far I've heard no reports of any Egyption girls being attacked in this way but an American White girl was fair game, cultural isn't it.
White American girl = no respect, anything goes, fuck her and her basic human rights she's having it.
I do still they are Pigs mate, racist pigs at that.

I traveled one time on my own in Egypt in the usual tourist spots and never felt it was especially sexist. Certainly no more so than say, London or LA. but no, I wouldn't dress the same in mideast countries , either.
I also do not regret it, the temples and monuments are outstanding and the pyramids should really be seen. I was there when one could still climb into the Great Pyramid and I tell you, I got a minute alone to myself in there and I consider it a great memory.

Incidentally, there are few details about the attack aside from,
"brutal and sustained sexual..," and as she was in hospital for 4 days or so, I imagine it was a gang rape and not a mere hazing/groping incident.
( I've been violently groped through clothing in a Thai beach parking lot, by a Thai and it is most upsetting assault, too.)

She has also not issued any statements or IMO, has indicated in any way she is keen to monopolize on this "brutal and sustained sexual" attack in way of publicity. She is probably horrified to have been exposed to hepatitus and AIDS.

Unfortunately, journalists all over are being attacked in unprecedented numbers and others were too, in Egypt.
