this ain't no fact , there is plenty of resources just the distribution is inequitable .
This is starting to sound like liberal wet dreams. I see even old Tommy is getting in on the act, bless his rotting 'brain'.

No, we re NOT ever gonna get to Nirvana, where all are equal, all resources are spread equitably and all are singing Kumbaya. IT AIN"T EVER GONNA HAPPEN.

Reality is man is part of nature. We hoard, we are selfish, we kill. It's not going to change, no matter how much social shaping is attempted. Same same marriage/monogamy.

I simply try and climb out of the childish fantasy world we have been trying to build for the last half century, failing dismally, and face the reality of who we are.

The world is flooded with natural gas and there is almost no limit on nuclear energy.

Indeed. And it is their sacrifice that means the days of needing sizeable standing armies in the civilised world is over.

Exactly, that's why armies today are small in comparison.

How. Please, examples. You say how much we've changed. Examples - multiple. My perception is that those changes were superficial, and crack at the slightest nudge.

Relative peace. Come on Mid, your not that naive. We might not be wandering marauders any more, but wars are being fought everyday (and not just with guns either), due to mans desire for power. I dont believe it will ever change either.

You confuse how we've changed what we do and how we live with, well, how WE changed. We haven't changed at all. In fact I've been trying to think how we have changed, and cannot think of even one example.

When everything is hunky-dory we are able to keep the face of our 'change' up. One bump in the road and it falls off.

First World War - and they (Siam) were a party to the Treaty of Versaiiles. They were on the side of the Allies, unlike the Second World War when Japan made them their bitch.
