Heh..I was really attempting to raise the blood pressure of one of the 'usual suspects' with some irony. Post intended tongue-in-cheek. I went off that 'mission' long time ago...

the truth is that Americans can't fight a normal war, never could,

they are like the French, except the French are smarter, they surrender to minimize their own casualties, while Americans are fool enough to believe they can win and will head straight into a wall at full speed

Can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs, and at least it was friendly fire that most likely killed them, much better than unfriendly fire.
more civilians died on 9/11 then died in the 2 week war that it took to topple Saddam Hussein. The rest of the war was just nation building and the rest of the deaths where the result of muslim on muslim fighting. Sunni vs Sheite.

Little-known fact: Obama's failed stimulus program cost more than the Iraq war

Just a few of the more salient points:

    * Obama's stimulus, passed in his first month in office, will cost more than the entire Iraq War -- more than $100 billion (15%) more.
    * Just the first two years of Obama's stimulus cost more than the entire cost of the Iraq War under President Bush, or six years of that war.
    * Iraq War spending accounted for just 3.2% of all federal spending while it lasted.
    * Iraq War spending was not even one quarter of what we spent on Medicare in the same time frame.
    * Iraq War spending was not even 15% of the total deficit spending in that time frame. The cumulative deficit, 2003-2010, would have been four-point-something trillion dollars with or without the Iraq War.
    * The Iraq War accounts for less than 8% of the federal debt held by the public at the end of 2010 ($9.031 trillion).
    * During Bush's Iraq years, 2003-2008, the federal government spent more on education that it did on the Iraq War. (State and local governments spent about ten times more.)

The US would never enter a direct war with Iran, not even when it fires off a nuke.

Iran is a joke. Militarily (conventional warfare) they could be crushed within 48 hours with US might. The fact that America has not invaded has to due with the countries youth factor. The overwhelming majority of the population (75% plus) are under 35 in Iran. The mullahs are done. The young want freedom and are tired of religious chains.

The reason America has not entered a war with Iran is because it does not have the resources. A war with Iran would suck America dry.

It would be a piece of piss to take out Iran. They have nowhere near the military development of Iraq, which at least was supported by the West through the 70s and 80s.

What's going to happen when the US pull out is that Iran is going to pile their crappy north korean weapons and their bumbling troops into and attempt to take over at least part of Iraq to expand their scummy little Persian empire. And another million conscripts will die.

Bush and his cronies are greedy little c*nts. None of this needed doing. They could have maintained the status quo until the oil runs out, and then left them to blow themselves to pieces.

All this was ever about was (a) making Carlyle stakeholders a shit load of money, and (b) making the Arabs fight amongst themselves instead of focusing on Israel.

Of course, what we have now is a good old fashioned middle east shit storm and the four by twos aren't exactly helping.

Ho Hum. It's only got to last a few more years and I'll retire out of here with a healthy pot of filthy Arab lucre. Or do I mean Arab filthy lucre.

    Ah, whatever.

Even for the U.S. it is probably hard to fight on several fronts. And this is probably just exactly what the enemy is trying to get them to do!

C'mon, buttfly et al says the US has the murder of 500,000 Iraqi kids on its hands. Or are children not civilians?

Just like it was in Iraq, Afghanistan and South Vietnam?
small reminder- Iraq had been 5/6th disarmed by the UN before the American invasion. Iran is a much bigger and more powerful country that has not been disarmed. They also control the straits of Hormuz, through which most of the worlds oil passes.
