Former Sex Pistols manager Malcom McLaren dies at 64

Malcolm McLaren, the former manager of punk group the Sex Pistols, has died in New York, aged 64, his agent has said.

McLaren, the ex-partner of designer Vivienne Westwood, was believed to have been diagnosed with cancer a while ago.

He set up a clothes shop and label with Westwood on London's King's Road in the 1970s and was later a businessman and performer in his own right.
The couple had a son, Joseph Corre, the co-founder of lingerie shop Agent Provocateur.

His agent told the BBC McLaren passed away on Thursday morning.
Spokesman Les Malloy said he expected McLaren's body to be returned to the UK.
McLaren also managed a number of other bands, including the New York Dolls and Bow Wow Wow before producing his own records including the much-sampled track Double Dutch from the 1983 album Duck Rock.

He continued to be involved in the culture and arts scene up until his death.

Personally he irritated me with his rewriting of the pistols history to make himself sound like a genius.

Not a bad innings considering the debauchery he was involved with.

I think John Lydon will be happy today as he hated MM, for all his claims he invented punk and the pistols

John is a god ,be it in his own mind = the power of one

Nah, John really is the real deal in my book.... he even managed to always sell me his spin on reforming the Pistols which i was dead against. Close to seeing them first time round but would never go see them now.

    malcom mclaren

Malcolm McLaren, the former manager of the Sex Pistols and impresario, has died from cancer, aged 64.

He died in hospital in Switzerland with his partner, 37-year-old Korean- American Young Kim by his bedside, along with his son Joe Corre. Ms Kim told The Independent: "We were there with him when he passed away. He was diagnosed with cancer in October. He was very active until the end of February when his tumour became very aggressive. He just went very quickly. He said he wanted to be buried at Highgate cemetery. We are now taking steps to try to make that happen."
McLaren had kept his illness quiet. In February he had travelled to New York in February for the launch of an art book before returning to Switzerland to be treated at a clinic.
