Thats what I don't understand about the legal system in our countries.

On one hand you have a callous killer of children and on the other you have a system who spends 100's of thousands of tax payers pounds protecting him when he wishes to end his own life.

Forgive me but can someone explain to me why?
Its because of liability. While a prisoner is in custody the jailers have an obligation to ensure his safety. Thats why they take your belt and shoelaces off you when you get thrown into a police cell. Nothing to do with compassion for child killers.
Precisely Mate, that + the fact that you have sworn to do a job according to laws and rules, and that includes the stuff you don't like to do too, if you are a good civil servant. If state civil servants start to act like they are a law onto themselves you have----Thailand
At least Thailand would have put him in his box forever!
