I think Hitchens discredits himself badly when it comes to the Iraq war (which I think became personal with him because of relationships he developed in Kurdish Iraq) but I more or less agree with him about religion, including Islam, in general.
One thing that the anti-Islam crowd doesn't seem to make much of is that most of the time attacks by extremist Muslims kill more fellow (or non-fellow, as the case may be) Muslims. Perhaps it undermines their arguments, such as they are, to point out that Islam is as much at war with itself as it is with people who don't subscribe to what some pedo said in the 7th century- maybe more so.
Consistency demands that if you are going to be against religious coercion and violence you should be just as concerned about Eric Prince as about some kook mullah in Beirut or Yemen.
