    Another Gitmo Guy Killed

On Oct. 13, a former Guantanamo detainee named Yousef Mohammed al Shihri was killed in a shootout at a checkpoint along the Saudi-Yemeni border. Al Shihri and his accomplices were stopped by Saudi security forces after their suspicious behavior drew attention.

Two of the travelers, including al Shihri, were reportedly dressed as women. Saudi security personnel decided to search the al Qaeda car and its passengers, but al Shihri and the others opened fire. Al Shihri and one other al Qaeda member were killed in the shootout, while a third was arrested. One Saudi security officer was also killed.
    ...

That Yousef Mohammed al Shihri returned to jihad after being released from Guantanamo is not surprising given what the US government alleged about him in three memos written between Sept. 25, 2004 and Oct. 12, 2006.

They should just dump all the detainees in London. They would fit right in.

Is this the guy that was 13 when he was detained and shipped off to Gitmo?

If it is then the 'three memos' sections makes some pretty terrifying reading, 'one day of grenade and Kalashnikov training', 'worked burying bodies'?

Yeah, I can see how he'd be pissed at the USA when the Bush admin finally released him because they didn't have any justification for holding him.

...and a surprise flash flood having taken away his clothes while he was skinny dipping, he was left with no recourse but that accept the kindly burka that was offered to him by a kind hearted woman.

He was just trying to home to help his infant sisters and brothers lead a better life, when he was cut down by these imperialist saudi forces who planted the guns on him.

Hey, good riddance for all I'm concerned.

One thing I have noticed about my fellow countrymen on this forum. They will side with any terrorist cause, no matter how immoral, as long as that cause sets itself against the United States and all it stands for. So much for "civilisation". It's a bit like the bloggers, who in one sentence, boast about their Mensa membership and then begin talking about their "relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ". It's enough to make one vomit.

    A case of chicken-&-egg?

I could envisage the case of an innocent person abused for years by the Merkins, looking for payback after exit unjust imprisonment.

^ I think it's highly more likely he was detained for doing something that justified him being detained.

Why do you even worry about these people? Most of them would have no problem killing you and you feel the need to stick up for them. Amazing....

It's sticking up for the rule of law, because without it, we'd be as bad as them.

I reckon he had better food, housing, med care, and entertainment than he ever even dreamed of. Took advantage, like any psycho, and then went out with the intent to kill again.

I agree partially with that. They should not have been put to Gitmo. They should have been given Prisoner of War status and be held in confinement until the war on Terrorism has ended.

Getting them into court now is a bad thing but the result of a wrong decision by Bush back then. Gathering legal evidence during the afghan fighting was just not possible so calling for court usable evidence now is ridiculous. Of course that cannot be provided in most of those cases and the raving lunatics go free laughing every step of the way to their next atrocities.
