All this proves is that particle physicists know where to score really good weed.

Sorry, that's a Mark Twain quote. But you are right about the intent.

No offense here, but I DID check before posting!

Rechecking seems to be split between twain and Lincoln. The phrase I used seems to be almost exclusively attributed to Lincoln, while the more blunt (shall we say) seems to be atributed to Twain.

My original phrase search bought up Lincoln as the attribute. This one cites both:

This experiment is great, it's a shame that it keeps on breaking down.

If they find the higgs then it'll take our understanding to a whole new level. If they don't find it it'll tell us that we don't have a fucking clue.

They could even use it to research warp drive technology and stuff lke that. A lot of the stuff on star trek isn't just the imagination of the writers but actual scientific theories thought to be possible or even likely, we just don't know how to do it.....yet.

However the $3 billion could have been better spent--i.e. distributing it amongst all the expats in Thailand --think of the boost to the thai economy--the new houses and gold for the bar girls

    Theoretical physics

As far as I know they are trying to prove the existence of matter which is believed to exist in reality but that only currently exists in theoretical terms. Next on the list are Saudi and Yemeni brain cells.
