Angry 4-year-old blasts babysitter with shotgun

Cops: Angry 4-year-old blasts babysitter with shotgun
    January 06, 2009

Police say a 4-year-old boy shot his babysitter Sunday because the 17-year-old stepped on his foot.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that the boy "retrieved a shell from a drawer in a back bedroom, grabbed a 20-gauge single-shot shotgun from a closet and loaded the weapon ... returned to the living room, and in front of another 17-year-old boy and other children, shot [Nathan] Beavers."

Beavers was treated for wounds from the birdshot, the paper says. The blast also injured another Jackson County, Ohio, teen, according to the Associated Press.

The shooter, who we're not identifying because of his age, isn't facing any charges.

"He knew it was wrong. He'd seen guns loaded and shot before, but he's never seen the carnage it makes when it hits. He knows it now," his father tells WBNS-TV.

Yes violence is coming from an ever younger age group. Very strange indeed.Seems to be happening all over the world. Or is it only in places with a television ?

WTF was a shotgun and ammo doing where a bloody 4 year old can get it ?

Sheesh, little bit more responsibility please. The father should be charged with attempted murder or something. Maybe next time he will lock the fucking gun away !

Should either try the little fucker as an adult, or maybe take him trap shootring to sharpen his aim a tad.
But he pobly be more comfortable with a .410, less recoil and weight.

Definitely a clear indication that this took place in the USA. Quite typical - leaving guns where kids can get to them, all the while not bothering with educating these same children about gun safety, and what they do to living things.

My Dad taught me gun safety ("treat all guns as if they are loaded, and never point at anything you don't want killed") at an early age, and when I was very young, I learned the lesson of what happens when you shoot living things, when we shot birds -- I learned to never point a gun at any living thing, unless I absolutely must - and if I do, make sure you kill with the first shot.

Nevertheless, it seems no one else I know ever bothered to teach their own children such basic rules.

The fact is this child of four actually wanted to kill because he was hurt by another this is very disturbing. and he needs to be watched very carefully.

Funny the father would teach a 4year old how to shoot and load a shotgun, but forget to tell him what it does. Agree, has to be in the US.

    "Nathan" is a lesbian?

Perhaps Dad did tell him what a shotgun does...& thus the shooting?
I can just hear the yank drawl now (very similar to some Aussie "rednecks" I unfortunately know), "Boy, you never haf to take shit from anyone if you got a gun." So much for basic human respect...it means nothing...when you've got a gun.

Too many guns in this world...particularly in the USA. Get rid of the bloody things!!!
Oh for fucks sake! Get a life & stop trying to fuck mine up!

Why, Get rid of those that use guns for illegal things.
I have a shit load of guns in a more or less collection, some spendy and some just old and family heirlooms. and only 1 has taken a life.
I have a Mod.94 Win. 25/35 saddle carbine that a Drunk Indian used to shoot himself with and my dad bought it from a used dealer for $5 in 1938, and my uncle shot himself when he was dying of cancer in early 50s and that Mod. 99 300 Savage was sold by my aunt so it is not in the family anymore.
So none of my guns were used to kill anyone, except maybe the 9mm 1943 P38 Walther from Germany army with a lot of German canned ammo all dated 1943, I am not sure of it's history before my dad picked it up from a German prisoner.

An extreme example of what lax gun laws can produce.

What's next a four year old bringing a gun to school?

Why a four year old should even know about guns or loading guns is beyond me.

And I suppose that people are made for killing or "doing harm" to?

As for those that say they have had lots of guns & never had a problem, so what!!!!
Guns don't go off by themselves. They generally require a human to "pull the trigger". Since this is the case, get rid of "the trigger" (i.e. guns). On the other hand, one could choose to be rid of "trigger pulling humans" by killing them. But the strange thing is, they just seem to keep coming back...generation after generation. The good thing is that guns don't have sex & multiply, like humans do.

Thank fuck that Amstralia isn't a "gun happy" country. Shit, there are enough angry people there now...it could easily be as half as bad as the USA.

Really doubt it as the gun would be longer than the kid and in US kids don't go to school til 5 even in Kindergarten.

My daughter knew about guns at 4 and I would imagine she could have figured out how to load it, just because a kid is young, if they were raised to think for themselves and not like a Thai kid, they should be smart enough to do a lot of things.
She had an engine powered mini corvette that she drove around on the gravel roads at 4 and also an electric Barby jeep that she went around the neighborhood in when we still lived in Northern Calif in the country, not in the city.
But she was raised as a little person and not as a mindless baby.

^Mindless or not, any kid could find a gun if a parent is stupid enough to leave it in a reachable location. A four year old handling a gun is bloody foolish, and asking for an accident to happen, as it did in this situation.

    Good thinking there, Sherlock.

Bit of a self-defeating scheme there, don't you agree, kid?
