Scampy - I've been all over China and its an utter shi*e hole. Most of the people outside the major cities are in dire conditions, barely making ends meat. They are completely miserable lot - never seen so many sad people. China's massive population will be their undoing. Try getting around a bit more and open those eyes - have a look outside the major cities and you will be shocked.
