    New Zealander Attacked with Hedgehog

Teen assaulted with hedgehog | NEWS.com.au

A NEW Zealand man has been charged with assault after he threw a hedgehog at a teenage boy.

"It hit the victim in the leg, causing a large, red welt and several puncture marks,'' police sergeant Bruce Jenkins told the Herald on Sunday.

Shortly after throwing the animal, William Singalargh, 27, of Whakatane was arrested for assaulting the 15-year-old with a weapon.

It is not known whether the hedgehog. was dead or alive at the time, but it was dead after the incident when it was collected as evidence, the paper said.

Mr Singalargh's lawyer Rebecca Plunket told the paper that her client would deny the charge, which carries a maximum five-year prison sentence, when he reappears in court on April 17 .

These Kiwi's are resourceful guys not only do they use our four legged friends for sexual relief but they also use them as live weaponry

I heard the south islanders use the goats as projectile weapons and shag the hedgehogs.

No self respecting Aussie echidna would be caught dead in NZ

" areas where hedgehogs have been introduced, such as New Zealand and the islands of Scotland, the hedgehog itself has become a pest. In New Zealand it causes immense damage to native species including insects, snails and ground-nesting birds, particularly shore birds. As with many introduced animals, it lacks natural predators."

Arai, ka? He possibly killed a hedgehog & he's done for assault on the kid? Don't they have animal rights' laws in NZ? Should be done for assault & for killing the hedgehog (doesn't matter if it was dead already - throw the book at him!)

If thats true then i'm sad for you more than anything, In my view, justice and fairness are corner stones of any self respecting society or indeed any self respecting persons belief system and way of life.

they don't know much those kiwis, do they.... surely the guy who had it thrown at him could tell..

Then again, Klongmaster only teaches English to airhead hostesses, and he thinks he's a pilot! Maybe the the poor kiwi kid can't tell the difference between a live and a dead animal..... kiwis are strange creatures, that's for sure!

My Dad introduced hedgehogs as a new species to our back garden when I was a toddler. One of my very earliest memories is of joyfully running them over on my bright red toddler tricycle for fun when the grown ups were not looking.

It was fun because they waddled fairly slowly and so were an easy target even for a poorly coordinated tiny tot. I eventually managed to kill them all and my dad never got any more which I was sad about at the time but now understand
