The national airline posted the apology from president Sumeth Damrongchaitham on its Facebook page late on Thursday night.
He said the matter was severe and affected the airline's image. He had ordered an investigation and would ensure such an incident did not occur again.[at]
"I express sorrow and apologise to all passengers affected by the unprofessional action that caused the delay. And I apologise to the passengers who were directly affected by the seat change. I take responsibility for the incident," Mr Sumeth said.
The incident reportedly involved THAI flight TG971 from Zurich to Bangkok on Oct 11.[at] It was scheduled to depart at 1.30pm but the duty pilots refused to take off unless some first-class passengers agreed to give up their seats to two THAI pilots deadheading to Bangkok.
All first-class passengers initially refused to do[at]so. After about two hours of delay, a couple finally vacated their seats so the flight could depart.[at]
They later filed a complaint, saying the two off-duty pilots should have been given vacant seats in business class, rather than taking all passengers hostage to achieve what they wanted.
He was going to transfer to an inactive post but police HQ is full up.

A tray full of GOLD is not worth a moment in time.
One of the best airlines in the world Uh Oh. Check out their 5 star reviews on the Chinese Skytrax site.
^Thanks, *** rating. Similar to American Airlines, Air China, China Eastern, Delta, El Al, Gulf Air and United.
Lion Air flight crash.
https://news.sky.com/story/lion-air-...karta-11538880
^ Says on pprune that is was a brand new 737 Max. The flight profile looks ragged almost as soon as it takes off....
^ you wont have time, that other flight only got to 2500 feet.
When you buy the airline wifi, just buy the 15 minute package to keep us informed.
Thai Lion Air just bought a load of those Boeing's like the one that just crashed
Bon VoyageThai Lion Air to pursue more rapid international expansion as A330-300s and 737 MAX 8s are delivered
LEAP-1B: exclusive powerplant for the Boeing 737 MAX
"The LEAP® engine was developed by Safran Aircraft Engines and GE through their joint company, CFM International, to power the next generation of single-aisle commercial jets"
Allegedly the turbine blades have had problems.
"In 2017, Boeing was forced to temporarily halt test flights of its first 737 MAX’s because French engine-making company Safran discovered “quality problems” in some of the turbines used in the aircraft. The company notified Boeing of its findings, which led to the grounding of 21 aircraft."
RR had nothing to do with the crash.

Anyone flown AirAsia recently? The emergency exits on every domestic flight I have flown are obstructed by seats, which places passengers at risk in the event of a need for emergency evacuation.
Disclaimer: I have not flown on every AirAsia plane, or on every domestic and international route, and am not implying that AirAsia policy compromises passenger safety for increased revenue on every flight. But it does on every flight I have been on.
I have contacted AirAsia about this on more than one occasion, with no response.
If or when an incident occurs involving passengers being injured or killed because emergency exits were blocked, I expect AirAsia to offer a hand to heart apology, sack a few low end staff and remove obstructions until the outrage dies down.
Note: AirAsia is not an IATA member, and probably isn't bound by its safety rules.
Flew with them to and from CM - BKK - Tokyo in July.
Emergency exits were fine, but not serving meals until three hours into the flight was an obvious ploy to make people pay their exorbitant charges for snacks.
None of the Thais were biting.
Generally, AA seems to have lost its appeal. It's no longer among the cheaper deals on many routes, and has nothing that is worth paying extra for.
Then there's Don Muang...
https://www.airasia.com/my/en/inflig...t-options.pageHot Seats
Located in the front of the plane and emergency exit rows, Hot Seats comes with 29” pitch and 16-17” width. You can even stretch out with at least 20.3” of legroom on rows 1, 12, and 14. On top of that, you'll also get to board first.
Bit of a pet subject of yours then, dill?
Like many people working in this region, I never....ever...know my holidays two months ahead.
I'm also never....ever...looking for flights that leave after 3pm.
For earlier flights there are better, cheaper options from Suwannapoom, which don't involve a 1 hour bus ride. Vietjet in particular.
BTW...skyscanner prices shown are NEVER anywhere near what you end up actually paying after add-ons like baggage and, oh yeah, an actual seat to sit on.
*sheesh*
And yeah, I know it's not officially spelt 'Suwannapoom'.
Something not right here. There were two single sets of emergency exits (excluding front/rear) on my domestic flights (plans show just one double-set on the A320), both obstructed by seats, with front seven rows of hotseats (1-2 VIP, 3-7 (8?) hotseat, plan shows two sets, 1-5, 12-14).
Unfortunately crew came over as I took pics of the forward exits, mild scolding with wifey on their side as expected, had no time to email them so sheepishly deleted. Odd, that, never before had a problem taking pics of family/friends on board.
