It is a pretty sad situation in the USA. You need to get a license to drive a car, fly a plane, or operate a ham radio, but no barriers at all to gun ownership. The horse is well out of the barn on this issue and time will tell how it all turns out. A sane society would require a license with emotional qualification of some kind to be able to own a killing device like a gun of any kind. I know.... idealist thinking....
